Thanks to the mall management in renovating the toilet. It’s so nice, beautiful & clean – – quite different design compared with other malls. Keep it up!
We had the green curry pork, deep fried egg omelette, kerabu, seafood tom yum, basil minced pork and salted egg squid.
Every dish tasted good. Will definitely come back again.
The food flavors are “standard” Thai—decent, but nothing remarkable.
The Tom Yam Goong: We were surprised to find only four small prawns in the pot, which felt very stingy for a group setting.
The pork Knuckle Kha Moo Tod was unfortunately not presentable, it looks like overcooked or overnight pork, making it quite tough.
The rest of the dishes were just average and portion size is quite small. Imagine 6 person with 7 dishes and not enough to serve all the 6 white rice.
The main issue and the most frustrating part of the night was the unbearable humidity. The air conditioning was practically non-existent, leaving the restaurant feeling warm and stuffy. While there are ceiling fans, they are too small to provide any relief to most tables.
The owner was kind enough to apologize for the heat but it’s not the owner’s fault, it is the building management of Island 88, they are to blame for the poor cooling system. However, as a customer, it is hard to justify paying restaurant prices to eat in “coffee shop” temperatures. It’s impossible to enjoy a hot meal like Tom Yam when you are sweating throughout the dinner.
The restaurant owner must take this temperature issue to the building management and seriously seek for a solution soonest possible.
Since I was quite hungry and the waitstaff seemed busy, I opted for a set menu for quicker service. The food was okay for a quick meal, though a bit on the oily side, and nothing that really stood out.
Perhaps next time I’ll come back with a group of friends so we can try a wider range of dishes and see if there are standout items on the menu.
However the lunch promo caught my attention, so I decided to give it a try and I have to say it’s one of the best meals I’ve ever had here
For around 18, I got a lunch set and the green curry really won me over. I also loved the acar&the set even came with free lemongrass drink The pandan chicken also suited my taste
The host and waitress also very friendly and helpful
Thank you for the great service, I’ll definitely be back soon
We had the Thai omelette with minced pork and chicken cashew set, with an addition of the pandan chicken for 4.5 and an upgrade to the Thai milk tea. While the Thai omelette was on the salty side, everything else was pretty good, and the pandan chicken was definitely the highlight! ❤️ I’d come again just for the pandan chicken. It was a big piece, soft and fragrant, and a lovely addition to our set lunch.
Service was actually pretty quick—so I’m not entirely sure why other reviews have mentioned a slow service. I went around 1245pm so that was pretty much peak lunch hour and we didn’t have to wait for more than 10 minutes for everything. But perhaps I came only for the set lunch, so naturally my expectations are lower when the price point is lower.
All in all, Nam April has earned a ‘will return for more’ seal of approval from me. Eager to try the deep fried prawn cakes next!
Food:
• Tom Yum Soup (Chicken) – The broth was flavorful with a well-balanced tanginess and spiciness from the lemongrass and kaffir lime. The chicken was tender and well-cooked, absorbing the rich flavors of the soup. A comforting and satisfying dish.
• Pandan Leaf Chicken – The chicken was marinated beautifully, wrapped in fragrant pandan leaves, and cooked to perfection. It was juicy on the inside with a slightly crispy exterior, and the pandan aroma added a delightful depth to the flavor.
• Sambal Kang Kong – The kang kong was fresh and had a good crunch. The sambal sauce was flavorful with a nice balance of heat and savoriness, without being overpowering.
• Thai Milk Tea – Creamy and sweet with a strong tea flavor – not overly sugary, making it a refreshing complement to the spicy dishes.
Service:
The service was average – efficient but nothing particularly memorable. Orders were taken promptly, and the food arrived without much delay.
Atmosphere:
The ambience was comfortable with warm lighting and a relaxed vibe. The ventilation seemed good as there was no lingering food smell, which made the dining experience more pleasant.
Price:
The pricing was reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. Definitely good value for money. (See attached receipt for details.)
Overall, a satisfying and authentic Thai dining experience. We would definitely consider returning to try more dishes!
