We went here last night, and I have to say the new management did a great job with redefining the menu and improving the quality of the food! I ordered the chipotle chicken (see picture) and it was absolutely fantastic. I was a little skeptical initially, but after trying the food, I admit this was a solid choice for dinner.

Went yesterday and the service was good. I got the chicken chimichanga and not the best. Had a decent flavor and still not sure what gave the chicken a reddish color and was a bit spicy. They were fried but not really because they were a bit doughy the more I ate them. I won’t buy them again. The waitress was sweet but not sure that she understood what we were telling her.

This review is for last nights service. I usually go to this local restaurant atleast once a week becasue i love the atmosphere i love the food abd i enjoy having a drink from the bar. Last night i went to have some dinner after a long day of work, between 7 and 9, last night i felt like i was rush to eat and leave! My waitress came took our order and didnt even bother asking whether i wanted flour or corn tortillas, she didnt even bring them when our food was brought to our table when we know it comes with tortillas. After we starter eating, we were 15 mins into eating our food, when she was already trying to clear the table. I worked as a waiter before and i always try to tipped good to a good waiter: waitress and if you feel like you dont wanna take anothet table before your clock out time just give it to another waiter so your customer wont feel like its been rushed to eat and get out! I love enjoying my food and i love the food here! If I go again trust me ill ask for another waitress if i get her again!!

Arrived at the restaurant this afternoon Tuesday August 26 2025 and I thought that I would receive the same service that I had received from previous owners over the last 15 years, Upon receiving my food the rice was hard and old. I asked the waitress to ask the cook to cook me fresh rice; however I was told that they could not cook me rice fresh because they would have to cook a whole pot and he had cooked the rice this morning. I conversed with him and thought he was bringing me a new plate but instead the waiter bought my receipt for my drink. They refused to cook me fresh rice even though the rice on my plate was hard as a brick. I pray that they do well ❤️ but I will not be returning.
So disappointing. The manager told me he didn’t care because customers complain all the time.

This place used to be El Rodeo, and I loved it. Then it was briefly Mi Cancun, and I liked it. Now it’s Mil Amores, and this was my first visit.
The good: The place is cleaned up and decorated beautifully.
The bad:
The service – Rude waitress. (She had 2 ponytails twisted into circles with pink hair ties.) When she came to our table we weren’t ready to order, so I said we weren’t ready since the menu was new to us. She stood there. It was an action clearly designed to pressure us. I finally said, “We need a few more minutes” when she didn’t step away, and she said a very dismissive, “OK” and finally left. We were ready in about 3 minutes, and stacked our menus at the end of the table to make it clear. She passed our table over and over, no words or eye contact, left us waiting 20 minutes. I nearly left. My husband ordered Fajitas Texanas, which he pronounced (tay-HAH-nahs) and she acted confused but smug. Mind you, she spoke Spanish with other diners. She kept acting dumb. He continued to repeat it to her 3 times, and she CORRECTED HIM and pronounced it back to him as (tex-AH-nahs). All she needs to do is confirm the order. The insulting behavior was unnecessary. She did keep our glasses filled, but her earlier rude manner was hard to get past. She nearly completed our service, but a second waitress came to check on us and take our payment, and she was very friendly, so maybe the service isn’t always as awful as ours was today.
The food – The chips & salsa tasted terrible. (I’ve never once said that about basic chips & salsa.) To make it edible, I ordered cheese dip, which was just ok but lacked flavor. I got a Taco Salad and chose beef as the meat. What I really had was an order of Regret. The beef tasted like it was boiled in water – no seasoning at all. It was advertised to have pico de gallo, but I didn’t see or taste it. It had a tiny bit of cheese, and “sour cream” – not a dollop, but a thin streak, probably dispensed from a ketchup bottle. I would never have been able to eat it without the cheese dip I ordered. It would’ve been like eating paste. It cost $15.
It was a LUNCH for 2 and cost $43.97 before tip. I understand inflation is real, but I won’t pay someone $40+ to give me bad food, treat me with disdain and be rude to us. I will never visit this restaurant again.

So sorry I had to drop a star. I orded take out and was missing the tortillas from my Fajitas and also recieved a chimicanga instead of the meal I asked for. I can’t remember the name of the dish, but it was grilled chicken with bacon, mushrooms, chorizo, poblamo peppers and pineapple. Maybe it was a language barrier. I live 20 minutes away so I could not do back and pick up what I wanted. When the cashier rang up my order and said chimi I thought they were joking with me. I did not check my order before leaving. So my fault. This resturant used to be El Rodeo. I loved El Rodeo. It changed to Mi Cancun and we were not impressed. This new rendition is pretty and we will come to try the margaritas but I am disappointed in my takeout experience. The food was good. I was disappointed that I ordered a pint of salsa and a churiqueso and only got one bag of chips. I was expecting 2 bags. I now have a ton of salsa and no chips. I have always loved this restaurant and we will come in and try an in person order with margaritas next time.
