I found this local gem while getting loaded nearby. I’m originally from Chicago so I know my Chicago styles.. And I found a new favorite Chicago style not only was the food amazing brought back good memories but the staff were wonderful I highly recommend this place.. Being a truck driver It’s hard for me to get my rig anywhere near places like this. Today I truly felt blessed. Thank You

2023_08_18 We had just left a tennis tournament at South Christian. I asked my son to look up hot dog places and he found Cooks Hot Dog Drive In. I’ve never been there but I’m happy we did! The food was quick and great along with the service. Fun place for a quick bite to eat!

A must try for any traveler! Was in town for work and Cooks came recommended from locals. Stopped for lunch and was greeted by the amazingly friendly staff and welcomed with a nice cold homemade root beer! Wide selection of hot dogs with other menu items as well. Inside is a bit small but grab something to go or grab a seat outside. Nothing better for a great lunch and yes – Chase was on the case!

Great selection of hot dogs, love the Chicago dog but you have to try their root beer, it’s amazing! They have a variety of shakes and malts, chips, sodas… The patio is perfect for nice days.

I don’t know about reasonable prices! 5.65 for a mediocre boiled coney dog on a hard bun with hardly anything on it! 8$ for a lemonade. Only good thing was rootbeer and the dollar scoop of ice cream you can add to it

Absolutely fantastic! I’ve waited for 40 years to get back to My Favorite Chili Dog! And they were just as awesome as I remembered! The Cashier was Wonderful…friendly, helpful, kind, knowledgeable & obviously had been there for a very long time! She was so fun! The atmosphere was just so fun inside & out with a bit of history, memorabilia, & friendly, cozy, homey feeling!

Cooks has that old school vibe to it with a pretty good menu from dogs to shakes to floats to milkshakes. Super friendly people, the root beer is very good, they have nice outdoor seating. I’ll be back.

Cooks is so yummy! This place is sentimental to me as me, my husband and his great grandma would always eat hot dogs and drink root beer here almost every weekend we did this before she passed. Its so bitter sweet when I go cause it reminds me of her and how sweet she was I would highly recommend cooks for such delicious hot dogs and the root beer in a mug is always so worth it!

I got the Colby plus & the karona dog. Overall the hotdogs were delicious, but one thing that personally I think is to toast the buns a little bit. That’s my opinion tho. Also would be nice to not share a tray.

With a friend’s recommendation I came here for lunch and I’m glad I did. Cooks is a cool, old-fashioned sort of hot dog restaurant with a lot of great options. The root beer comes in ice cold mugs, and the hot dogs were prepared quick and fresh. I pigged out a bit and tried 4 different hot dogs: the chili dog, the Carolina slaw dog, the Venezuelan dog with potato sticks, and the Dutton general store dog with its old relish recipe. Everything was delicious, and it didn’t feel excessive in the end. The relish on the Dutton general store dog was wonderful, but I think the Carolina dog covered in coleslaw was probably my favorite. The patio with the small garden was very pleasant in the warm weather, and I had no complaints at all. Cooks is a great place that should be known to everyone in the greater GR area.
