Shall I say where to find the worst tasting ramen in Portland? I’m surprised that google is giving this place a 4.4 and was it also recommended on Eater too? Did they change ownership as Eaters indicated a Hawaiian influence here prior. We ordered the fried tofu appetizer and a Hokkaido Miso Ramen and a Veggie Ramen. The kitchen basically reheated the tofu so it tasted soggy and staled. The Hokaido Ramen saving grace is the noodles, which is good but everything else lacks tastes, boiled egg is just boiled and cold inside, pork is not marinated, just slices of boiled pork. The veggie ramen tasted like dish water, not sure if that’s even possible to imitate. The restaurant doesn’t have a single Asian person in the kitchen or among the patrons, usually a red flag for a popular Asian restaurant. When pressing for Tip…25% = (are you kidding?), 20% = $10 and 15% = $9 (clearly fraud here)!

Had the G-Special Ramen yesterday. I can back today with a client to hit it again. I am going to use this place as my default East side lunch meeting spot. Mike is awesome. Very welcoming and loves what he does. Bonus – They have great whisky!!!

Amazing food – I love the G Special Ramen, really enjoyed the fried tofu bites as well.
The crew is super kind and friendly, they greeted us when we walked in and thanked us on the way out. Plus they were training a new cook when we were in at the sushi counter and the kindness we overheard when they were teaching this kid made us happy to see a kitchen that felt full of respect and pride of their food.
10/10
Will come back again and again

it’s a somewhat small shop but damn they make the best of it. it felt super cozy and homey and the workers there were super nice and accommodating. while waiting for food i heard two people compliment the chef which got me excited and i wasn’t let down, i got the tonkatsu ramen and the pork was thick and had so much flavor and on top of that i could drink their broth everyday. i also had two drinks that were both fantastic. will definitely be coming back

Very nice laid back lunch vibes. The G-special ramen was my choice and boy was it incredible. The mushrooms really elevate the broth and add a complex yet delicious umami flavor which I loved.

The spot has an interesting take on Ramen. It didn’t taste super classic or but was good and served in a lovely atmosphere. We like those times where we can pay at the front and then get seated and have our food brought to us. The Aji nachos were plentiful And super fresh. The tonkotsu was not as rich as we are used to. The perk on the Shoyu was melt in your mouth.

very welcoming and friendly staff and it smelled incredible as soon as we walked in. Order at the bar and then they bring the food to you and it’s fun to be able to watch the chefs Prepare your food.. Vegetarian Miso Ramen was incredible. Highly recommend. My partner ordered the Tonkotsu ramen. He really liked it, but he did think that it was a little bit salty, and he would’ve liked some of my miso. A great selection of bourbon and whiskey and the yummy Asahi beer back was crisp and light. Such a great date night spot Or just a delicious and healthy lunch. We will be going back

I went here because it’s convenient on my lunch hour. I’ve had good ramen here in the past but this time I was very disappointed. I got a small portion, mostly noodles and broth, with some onion, bamboo shoots, half an egg and two very small pieces of “pork belly” that literally had no meat on them at all. The flavor of the broth was good but overall, the dish was no comparison to my favorite ramen place that’s a bit further away. For the same price, I will stick to my favorite spot in the future. It’s worth the drive.

Great spot for some delicious ramen. The chashu pork was a little dry but still flavorful nonetheless. The staff are friendly and helpful. Opt for the sake flight if you want to spoil yourself! Probably arrive outside of the busy hours if you want a quick bite!
