The Beef Ribs were absolutely delicious! My wife and I got their Beef Ribs platter and added some Brisket and the portion was huge. Our server was also very friendly and attentive and genuinely wanted us to be happy. We certainly were happy and satisfied! I highly recommend eating here!

Beautiful sunny day
Ordered ribs/kale slaw (wife – gluten free), plus special for the day brisket mac & cheese, small order of baked beans.
All our food was delicious.
Enjoyed a shady spot on the large patio, lots of room for diners, although primarily a takeout restaurant.
No alcohol which was fine.
Very friendly and accommodating service.
Will definitely return!

Fat Back BBQ provided catering for my husbands 70th birthday party and it was fantastic!!

They were very easy to co-ordinate all of the details with and delivered the food piping hot and ready to serve. Most importantly, the food was incredible. Our guests were raving about the food and we couldn’t have been happier.

The brisket on a bun was pretty decent. Meat portions are a bit small and stingy.

The atmosphere is cool but no washrooms. No sinks to wash your hands.

Prices are ok. $2.69 for pop seems a bit outrageous when it cost them less than $1.

Summery:

WOW Norfolk County’s most scenic bbq spot is a must try. On the corner of Main st and Harbour St is a a hidden gem and a must try. Tonight I had the pleasure of an amazing bbq meal and a tour of a smoke house that I fell in love with. I also had the company of Corey Smith to join me on a bbq experience we both wish we had larger stomachs for. So if you want great bbq and then go sit on the pier or beach and enjoy the food with the scenery. Go to Fatback and tell them I sent you. @everyone

Long Review:

My buddy Corey reached out to me a few days ago and he was eating at fatback bbq. He sent me a few photos of what he was eating and I quickly reached out to them to find out their hours so I could get there and try their bbq.

The Platter- I got the pleasure of having a sample platter. Brisket, ribs, sausage(not on menu yet), gar-par onion rings, fries and tater tots(I got extra on my platter for this review. Official platter may vary). This dish is a FANTASTIC start. If you don’t know what you want to try. This gives you a great variety of meats and a side to try to start your bbq journey at fatback bbq. The brisket was perfectly smoked. It had the right amount of tug on the meat before coming apart. Every piece passed the bend test and whether we ate it with our without sauce every bite was a pleasure. The sausage was perfect. The sauce was that perfect 70/30 lean to fat ratio. Smoked perfectly and juicy. We dipped it in some of their in house bbq sauce and WOW is all I could say with my mouth full. The ribs. They were just the right balance of dry rub, smoke and sauce. The meat was rendered down to a beautiful tenderness. The meat came off the bone cleanly and the passed the one bite test. I really hope this becomes and regular menu item. I would love to go just for this alone. Their in house BBQ sauce is Tangy Sweet with just the slightest kiss of heat for a balanced flavour.

Rocket Burger – this is a front runner for one of the best if not the best burger in Port Dover. The in house made burger had some of their house pepper sauce and bbq sauce. Cooked to a perfect medium. My inner Homer had a food moment with this one.

The Texan Poutine – the brisket burnt end poutine. Do I need to say more??? Well I will. Get it. Get this experience. The fries have a great seasoning on them with an in house gravy, cheese curds and burnt ends. These chunks of meat are not skimped on in anyway. It’s hearty dish and worth it’s weight in gold.

The Wings – I love wings. Now I got two sauces on a pound to try two sauces(this was under special just for me not common). I tried their in house bbq sauce and their butter hot. These wings are hand breaded and beautiful. Perfectly crispy outside and juice tender inside. I love the sauces on these wings. This could be the next hidden wing gem you need to know about. I didn’t expect to find this caliber of wing at a bbq spot.

The Karaage chicken sandwich – The karaage was tender (chicken thigh) fried with nice crunchy breading, and the sauce has a bit of heat (spicy chili pepper drizzle) to it but has plenty of flavour. The slaw and pickled onion added a nice complimentary flavour to the spicy chili. The potato bun was soft and paired well with it.

I even hired them to cater a BBQ platter eating contest for our fundraiser last year for Sick Kids Hospital.

Food was outstanding – Waygu Dawgs & Gar-Par onion rings (the best ever) Outstanding !!! Free sample containing a delicious rib, brisket and burnt ends. Service was outstanding! What a great team consisting of Keele, Coral and Bobbie!!! Will definitely be coming back!!!

We saw this place on social Media and decided to try it today, on our way back from the beach. The one thing that stood out the most was the service. Our lady server was so sweet. She brought me a complimentary bottle of water made sure my dog had water and said she will give us a salad with our two meals. Then we were talking to the chef about the chicken wings and he said he would cater to the sauce I enjoy. I did decide to go with his sauce and it was very delicious. I just want to say thank you for the stand out hospitality this evening. Its a mom and pop shop that we will definitely recommend and return to. Looking forward to trying the home made mac an cheese next time

What a fabulous place! The owner and staff are very nice and the chef is amazingly creative.
Loved the smoked brisket, chicken tenders, fries, and onion rings. The smoked ribs were tender and well spiced. Everything was housemade.
New on the menu, just released today, May 18th, 2024, is a beautifully plated smoked salmon, perfectly finished with a peach demi-glaze, Sriracha, and maple syrup . Outstanding
If you go to Port Dover, this is the place you must go and visit. Highly recommend!

Walking by and as avid BBQ lovers we were super excited. We ordered Brisket Burnt Ends.
The table was super sticky from where duct tape had once held down the tablecloth – now being held down with rocks.
In the kitchen a guy walked by the food holding a red sponge mop with the mop head up above his shoulder around food.
The food was brought to our table and we were pointed in the direction of cutlery, condiments and napkins. There were no knives. The burnt ends were big chunks of beef that had no char at all and looked as they were roasted in an oven. With our forks we attempted to break apart the meat into more manageable bite sized pieces but it was too tough. My husband put a chunk in his mouth and it was extremely difficult to breakdown, chew and swallow. Had we not been in front and centre it would have been spit out. Flavour: had absolutely no smoke flavour at all and there were two different BBQ sauces on it.
We are taking the meat home to deconstruct and eat it on a bun or something.
Overall sadly disappointed.
