I am writing to formally express my disappointment with my recent visit to The Kookaburra Coffee, located at 1835 US Highway 1 S, St. Augustine, FL 32084-4294, on December 21, 2025.
It was a chilly afternoon, and we stopped in expecting the comfort of a hot, well-prepared cup of coffee. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of that expectation. We ordered two medium drip coffees, and when I asked for cream, the employee at the counter stated that customers are not allowed to add their own cream and that the barista must pour it instead.
I explained that I prefer to customize my coffee to my exact taste. When cream is added by someone else, it often ends up either insufficient or excessive. There was no clear explanation as to why cream was not available at the condiment station alongside the sugar and stirrers. This policy felt unnecessary and inconvenient, and frankly came across as a cost-cutting measure rather than a customer-focused decision.
More disappointing, however, was the temperature of the coffee itself. When we received our drinks, they were lukewarm—closer to room temperature than hot. For a coffee establishment, especially on a cold day, serving coffee at such a low temperature is unacceptable. I enjoy my coffee hot, and this alone should be a basic standard.
Between the restrictive service policy and the poor quality of the product, the experience was extremely frustrating. This visit left a lasting negative impression, and regrettably, it is not an establishment I plan to return to.
I hope management takes this feedback seriously and re-evaluates both service practices and quality control, as these issues significantly detract from the customer experience.

Barista was very sweet, looked up how much caffeine is in the coffee for me. Very clean environment as well, calm place to drink coffee and eat.

Stopped in for the first time today and ordered two Aussie, breakfast pies and the honey badger latte with a Keylime lemon bar. Everything was awesome. I also got a side of Sriracha sauce for the Aussie pies. The service was amazing atmosphere is cool lovely spot. We’ll go again.

The coffee was amazing! My daughter said the Chai was the best she ever had!! Griffin was so kind and helpful. My flat white was made with the best foam. The latte was also delicious. Not everyone can steam milk correctly for all the different drinks, but Griffin did an amazing job! Wish you were in Austin! What a great treat and our daily fix! Thank you for making our trip to St. Augustine’s even better!!

Absolutely loved this place! The coffee here is spot on rich, smooth, and just the perfect balance of flavor. I tried their pumpkin loaf as well and it was fantastic, moist with the right hint of spice, easily one of the best I’ve had. The atmosphere is cozy, and to top it off, the lady at the cashier was incredibly warm and welcoming. She made the whole experience even better with her friendly smile and helpful attitude.

Great coffee and even better people. Sarah and Sierra were awesome and super helpful, taking the time to chat and make the experience feel personal and welcoming. The Aussie iced coffee they recommended was actually really good and smooth. Probably my favorite now. Definitely a spot worth stopping by if you want good coffee and friendly service!!

Delicious! We got the honey badger, the rashers & eggs and the Vejjo Aussie pies with the pepper sauce on the side! We also got the cinnamon scone and banana chocolate chip muffin! Highly recommend this spot especially if you’re on a road trip! Oh and the service there was awesome! The girls are super sweet!

Great little coffee place with a funky, fun boho vibe. The pies were FABULOUS! I had the mince meat and my husband had the veggie – both were delicious. The crust was flaky and delicate – more like phyllo.
