My husband and I recently stayed at the Hotel Indigo in La Paz, Mexico and dined several times at their restaurant, Barco. We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our dining experience. From the warm, welcoming and professional staff to the excellent food. For breakfast, the best French toast I’ve ever had! For one of our dinners we were offered the special of red snapper for two. It was done to perfection with a beautiful presentation. A special thanks to Leopoldo, Jose, Ernesto and to all the many others whose names I’m forgetting. We would go back to stay at Hotel Indigo for the food alone! The hotel is a lovely accommodation but that’s another review for another day!

Lovely hotel restaurant. Surprisingly intimate for a large hotel. The restaurant has a large deck (with a pet friendly area!) overlooking the marina. Dinner was fantastic. We started with an aguachile ceviche and calamari, both delicious. We the. Enjoyed Baja fish tacos, a smash burger, garlic shrimp and a flatbread. All were excellent. Great cocktail list. Very friendly service (staff speak excellent English). The biggest let down was the terrible bottle of Chenin Blanc from the Guadalupe Valley for over $100 a bottle. Wines are overpriced and poor quality (IMO). The restaurant is expensive but that is not a surprise given its location. Highly recommend.

We stayed at the Indigo Hotel, and this restaurant was one of our go-to’s for the whole trip. Every server we had was exceptional and so welcoming. The food was delicious. For breakfast, I enjoyed the machaca burrito (hot tip, order a side of eggs to put on top) and the huevos rancheros. Enjoy!

We’ve dined at Barco three times since it opened. Always indoors due to cooler winter nights. Excellent fish of the day, but the calamari appetizer has been hit and miss. Recent calamari was big rings and stringy—definitely not fresh. They make the best seafood pasta we’ve tried in La Paz. The Milanese chicken is enormous. Meatball skillet is very tasty. Very friendly service. Shrimp soup was a bit stinky. American wine prices are high but that is typical. Local Nebbiolo they serve by the glass is excellent. Overall, prices are high, because it is located at a hotel, part of the new Hotel Indigo, an IHG property, formally Costa Baja.
I look forward to enjoying happy hour her on the terrace someday.

Ate here each morning while staying at Hotel Indigo. The burrito pictured (maybe called the Nureño?) was quite delicious.

We started the evening outside as it was cool, but not too cold. Towards the end of the night they provide blankets to keep you warm and cozy. The food was good and drinks were nice. I would highly recommend the hibiscus margarita. Gio from the staff was awesome and gave us great recommendations.

Exceptional Dining Experience at Barco in La Paz – Feb 2025
There were many fantastic restaurants in La Paz, and Barco quickly became one of our favorites. We had the pleasure of enjoying both breakfast and dinner there, and we found ourselves returning for dessert multiple times. The menu was delicious, and the desserts were exceptional—especially the cheesecake. Leopoldo, our waiter for breakfast, was outstanding—so kind and attentive, always going above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Each evening we were there, Javier and his team took amazing care of our group, making sure we were well looked after. They truly made us feel like family, which is why we highly recommend Barco and can’t wait to return!

Do not use your credit card at this restaurant. The people in charge are dishonest and the people above them will do nothing to resolve your issue. I went to the restaurant for new years eve and paid for an expensive bottle of wine. I found out later that someone else at the table had already bought this bottle for us as a nice gesture. When we brought it to the attention of the waiter and the Capitan, they were able to verify from the other persons receipt that is was already indeed paid for.
They then asked me for my card to issue a refund, but instead of a refund, they charged my card again. Since then we have been trying to resolve this with them for over 9 days. We’ve sent them photo copies of the receipts proving the problem, but they continue to lie and say the the other person did not pay for the bottle and that I bought 2 (within 5 minutes of each other on separate receipts).. So frustrating to get this type of run around from what we thought was a high end restaurant. Do Not Trust these people and definitely never give them your credit card.

I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant. Every server we have had after coming multiple times to the restaurant were excellent, very friendly and attentive. The food is amazing, with fresh home baked treats, homemade tortillas, incredible fresh fish and a roasted ceviche that was so unique! We are really looking forward to coming back when we return to La Paz.
