We came back to Austin, MN after being gone for 6 years. When we previously lived here we enjoyed eating at this restaurant. How things have changed! We arrived at 5:30 pm and the buffet was at least 50% picked over and the food was luke warm at best. The taste was very bland, nothing had any flavor. After being seated and getting our first drink order we never saw a waitress again.

i went in for dinner with a group and my brother never ate he had a glass of water and they watched him the whole time and i go to pay and they charge me 40 for just me to eat even though i told them and they literally watched are table the whole time usually i wouldn’t make a big deal of things but all he had was a glass of water and not everyone just has 40$ to spend on one meal, he didn’t eat for a reason but they still said both of us have to pay when all he did was sit at are table and get 1 glass of water

Food is decent for a buffet. Staff ruin the experience. They stare at you the whole time you’re eating and give you scowls if you eat more than what they think you should. They push the bill on you early and try to force you out.

We have been going to China Star for over a decade. They are always very nice and welcoming, get you refills timely and have great food. Sone of their options have changed and the sweet n sour sauce is different, but over all very good.
