Social Profile:

The Chocolate Maven is owned by husband and wife team, executive chefs Dharm Andrew Segal and Cassie Ramos who began baking in their home garage, and have developed the establishment, services and menu for the past 27 years. We believe that the mood and positive vibe of an establishment makes its food taste better. We celebrate natural ingredients and old fashioned artisan baking in an atmosphere of charm, delight and integrity. Many of our bakers have been with us for over 20 years, and they are the best at what they do. Our company culture is one of goodwill, good food and the togetherness that food encourages. We are blessed with a profound team of talent, many of who us have been with the company for decades.

Relaxed eatery featuring specialty coffee drinks alongside pastries, hearty entrees & high tea.

I had breakfast here and ordered the Nova Scotia Omelette and Eggs Benedict—everything was delicious and very well prepared. The vanilla latte was also really good. The service was friendly and attentive. I would definitely come back for breakfast.

We were left a bit disappointed. I ordered the Italian hot chocolate expecting it to be thick and rich, but it wasn’t — which is especially surprising at a place called Chocolate Maven.
My friend got the matcha, and it was so light, lacking flavor. I asked if they could make the burrito into a burrito bowl (since I’d remembered seeing a review mention it), and the server reacted like it was a strange request instead of just explaining if they could or couldn’t. That reaction felt dismissive. The food overall was just okay, and the service definitely could have been better.
The wait time for food was long as well once seated.

This is a commercial bakery with an embedded restaurant.
Parking is off street, in front of the bakery. You go through the bakery shop to get to the restaurant. There was not wait when we visited on a weekday morning.

We got gluten free blue corn blueberry pancakes with pinions, a side of green chili sausage, and a Mediterranean omelet with smashed breakfast potatoes.

The omelet was very tasty, with a healthy portion of feta and kalamata olives.
The breakfast potatoes, baked then smashed and fried crispy were the star of the show.
The green chili sausage was good but not exceptional.
The blue corn pancakes were tasty, with a reasonable portion of pinions on top. Like many gluten free options, they lacked structural integrity. They were almost as good as the equivalent blue corn pinion pancakes at the Flying Tortilla (which are not gluten free).

There was a window to the commercial bakery floor in the dining room where we were seated. We enjoyed watching cinnamon rolls being made during breakfast.

It was a little pricey, $50 breakfast for two, but I felt like I got my money’s worth.

Update:
We brought my vegan daughter to breakfast, where she ordered the vegan version of the breakfast sandwich (and my wife ordered the non-vegan version) . My daughter, especially, was delighted with her breakfast.
I ordered the country breakfast substituting gluten free bread. Again the bread and potatoes were the stand out. (Theoretically you can order the bread at the on-site bakery, but as usual it’s sold out. We were told that it sells out almost immediately.)
We were seated at the window to the bakery, where they were making cinnamon rolls, and some other things .
Overall, it’s still a great place to go to for a special event / guests breakfast (I haven’t tried it outside of breakfast hours).

The first time we came here it was great, but it has gone downhill every time we’ve visited after that. The food is alright, same with the service. The drinking glasses and mugs are ALWAYS dirty. They also changed their policy and you have to pay for your pastries separately from your meal check, which is just sort of inconvenient. Also, the burrito did not agree with someone in my party.

We came for breakfast this morning. A favorite of ours when we visit Santa Fe. Fresh chocolate croissant, cheese danish and 2 latte’s were perfect to start our day.

We have eaten here for over 10 years and it is usually great but recently they must have a new chef because it is inconsistent from week to week. He doesn’t read the order so something is always wrong and my poached egg were super over cooked and my egg Benedict had almost no sauce when I ask for extra on the side. He also forgot chesse on our burrito and when i took it back in they just slaped a heap of unmelted chesse in side it and wraped it back up and sent it out! Super disappointing that they can’t seem to demand consistency from their staff. If you are lucky enough to get the good chef you will enjoy your food.

From the coffee to the dessert, everything was very good.
Our second visit was disappointing, food wasn’t as good and the wait was very long.

I decided to eat here for Saturday brunch and I’m really glad that I did. First of all, there was a heater under my table which kept my legs warm and toasty. I’m not sure if it only was where I was seated, but it was a nice touch. As for the meal, I had the Eggs Copenhagen, Nutella Banana Waffles, and Mexican Hot Chocolate. Everything was well prepared and tasted delicious. I came hungry and left satisfied. I would eat here everyday if I was a local. My server was Chandler and she did an outstanding job checking on me throughout my meal. The staff seem very professional, wear face masks, and try to social distance as best as possible. Chocolate Maven, I wish you guys the best and hope to eat here again one day.

Chocolate Maven is one of the local eateries in Santa Fe that everyone should visit at least once. You are greeted before you even step inside by the delicious smells of the bakery. First step in the door is in the bakery shop with splendid views of cookies, cakes, pies and breads. If you weren’t hungry yet, you are now. The hostess had a friendly smile and the wait was minimal. I ordered the Bahn Mi sandwich and was pleased with the flavor. It isn’t traditional Vietnamese style, and maybe that should be made known in the dish name, but it was still scrumptious and I’d order it again. The kettle chips were also amazing, no changes needed there. I will hopefully be back soon to try more of the menu!

Very nice place! There’s a huge selection of bakery items and food items as well. We got a table and got to see the workers making some desserts in their warehouse/factory.

The chile hot chocolate was delicious!! Highly recommended. I also got the green chile quiche, and it was very good.

Overall, great place, good service, and nice atmosphere. It is a little pricey though, so that’s my one main complaint!
