I ordered the Carne Asada. The flavors were solid, well-seasoned, and had a pleasant smoky edge, but the portion size was disappointing for the price. The meat was cooked perfectly, but there simply wasn’t enough to feel like a full entrée.
The guacamole, however, was the highlight of my meal. They prepare it fresh right at your table, and you can truly taste the difference. It’s creamy, bright, and perfectly seasoned with lime and salt. Watching it being made adds to the overall experience and makes it feel personal.
For dessert, I chose the churros and ice cream. It was decent but uninspired. The churros were good but not warm enough, and the presentation felt rushed. A bit more creativity would certainly enhance this dish.
Drinks remain one of Ocho’s strengths. The margaritas are clean, balanced, and well-made—without any sugary mix aftertaste.
Overall, Ocho Café is a fun spot with strong service, great guacamole, and good drinks. While the food has plenty of flavor, it could use a bit more heart and creativity to match the vibrant energy of the place. I would rate it 4 out of 5.
Highly recommend! (We were there on a freezing Saturday afternoon, not crowded at all, it was quiet (except the music). I imagine this place gets very busy on weekend nights though. Big bar.
The queso dip was luke warm and cold within 15 minutes. The salsa was bland like everything else. The sour cream didn’t taste like sour cream. It tasted more like cheese, which leads me to believe it wasn’t sour cream. The beans weren’t refried beans, they were baked beans with bacon. The chicken enchiladas should’ve been cooked a little longer. The Spanish rice was the only item on the plate that tasted right.
Service was spot on, cannot fault it. Our server was fantastic and the food was beautiful and quickly served.
Ok, second visit because it was that good! The staff were lovely and friendly, again with a great atmosphere and food absolutely delicious! Had a few margaritas just to test – lol- delicious
Parking: Free parking in the parking lot
Pricing: somewhat cheap
Food (flavors): I absolutely loved the rice is was super flavorful and paired well with the refried beans. The refried beans were on the salty side but they didn’t taste as salty mixed with the rice. I still loved the combination. The flavors in the quesadilla were overpowered by the amount of oil used to cook the ingredients BUT it tastes much better the next day after I reheated it and added some guacamole to it from the restaurant. The guac was pretty standard but good. I did not like the chipotle sauce that came with the quesadilla; it’s fatty flavors combined with the fatty flavor of the oil was too much for me. I also LOVED the churros and ice cream; the sauce drizzled on them was a nice touch!
Portion size: Huge
