In 1961, Ace Hi Tavern opened its doors, and earned a place in Golden’s history. With ties to Golden’s past, Ace Hi began a new tradition of community and fun that is beloved among locals. The opening of the Coors brewing facility brought many to Golden for work, and since then, Ace Hi has been a favorite for workers ending late-night shifts. For a dive bar, it isn’t bad. Prices were very good selection was not the best. It had a weird odor to it. But everybody was very friendly. The bartender was incredible and nice. But as far as the dive bar goes pretty expected. Of course what do you expect in a busy downtown area. Everything seemed pretty clean now from what I could see. I did not order any food or anything to eat so I cannot get any recommendations there.

We have been going to the Ace since the 80’s. It was strictly a biker bar for years until recently. Inside hasn’t changed still looks the same. Great old school bar.

Open doors at 7AM kicking off with Happy Hour until 11am (and again at 3pm)! This is the no-frills bar we all grew up in! Freezing cold tap beers, cheap drinks and the best hot-dog or frozen pizza you need late night!

We stopped by here for an afternoon drink while we were exploring Golden and we are glad we did. Great bartender, fat pours, awesome little dive bar ambiance, diverse crowd, and located right downtown. We each had a beer and a cocktail and everything was perfect. We are going back to Golden soon and this will be on our list of places to re-visit for sure.

While this used to be my favorite dive bar, unfortunately last night your bartender threw away a $25 SEALED drink from another establishment with zero communication that the drink couldn’t be inside. Would have gladly walked it outside to the car, if given the chance. She did not give two cents about saying “Hi” or “we can’t have outside food/drinks” just walks past us, aggressively grabs it from in front of us, and throws out things in the trash. Unfortunate as we frequent here and will not be returning.
Reply to owner: this is obviously not common knowledge among people who don’t have a liquor license, and no one would want to put you at risk. The respectful thing would be to communicate. Not be disrespectful. Shouldn’t be too difficult.

It’s my kind of dive bar. I love local dive bars. They are dog friendly, not over priced or trendy, plenty of regulars from the area. Great place to meet locals if you’re interested in making Golden a place you live in or frequent.
The don’t have a kitchen, so if you’re hungry don’t come here.

I wish I could say this place is great, but alas. The service, and this is coming from a server, is abysmal. My friend and I left at 1:30 when lights came on. Realized a debit card was left. We called at 1:40. The woman answered, yelled “CLOSED” and hung up the phone. We tried to call again they answered, we spoke, they hung up the phone. We aren’t from golden, so the drive there and back is a huge hassle when not going for a reason. We played the call and hang up game for another 5 minutes. 1:52 am we arrive back at the bar. Every employee is standing there, I can physically hear them saying “oh she’s here for her card” and talking about the situation before yelling through the door “we are closed! Come back at 8 am!” Posted hours being open to 2:00 am. I deeply get it, we are tired. Want to go home, serving drunk customers all night. We both had two beers each. That’s it. We just forgot a card and now have to take an hour to drive back to Golden because the bar refused to let us retrieve the card.

This bar is great. Lisa, Dani, and Casey are all the greatest. I am sad when there’s a weekend I don’t get to come hang. The service is always fantastic, even when they’re busy. 10/10

At Ace-Hi Tavern, Golden, Colorado (as it shows on the top of the receipt, so there’s no confusion), I ordered 1 beer late that night (I’m allowed to only have 1). When they closed me out at the end of the night, they decided to add 4 more beers, then leave themselves a tip. Use cash at this place, or they’ll take advantage. — There will probably be some unprofessional snobby reply from the “owner” underneath this review blaming the victim, which just goes to show what type of place this is.

Fun little dive bar with karaoke on weekends. Very diverse crowd from college kids and old timers to wedding parties. Dog friendly, cute bartenders and a pool table. This place is awesome!
