Sizzling. I’ve never had a bad experience at this restaurant. The staff is always friendly and prompt (Ronald is a fantastic server!) The food is flavorful, bold and many options are available for all palettes. I dine in and I do carry regularly. The garden is great in the summer. Highly recommend over and over. (Esp the crag rangarooniessss!)

Cool place and layout. Older building (duh downtown Rockford) with exposed brick charm. Loved the Pad Lad Na with chicken. Not chintzy on the chicken. Was a little soupy. Server a bit aloof at first blush but near closing time, may have been tired. Warmed up at the end. Would like to repeat with something more daring. This was my first attempt.

Very lovely decor inside! It’s quite a small restaurant so we had to patiently wait by the door for our table to be ready. We were seated at one of the half-booth/half chair tables. It took a while for our waitress to come, I think maybe she was new or something? I ordered the Teriyaki Chicken with white rice and my boyfriend ordered probably some kind of curry but I don’t remember which one. I was very surprised that mine came in a bowl basically as a soup! The teriyaki sauce was very thin and soup-like, not coating the chicken at all. It was still hot and tasty, just not what I had expected from the menu description. My boyfriend enjoyed his meal as well, but the waitress was very slow to refill his water glass. It’s a very cute place but I’m not particularly interested in coming back anytime soon.

This place was very nicely furnished. I enjoyed the outdoor seating area. It’s set up very nice and very relaxing. Our server was very attentive and did a wonderful job serving our group. The food came out hot and delicious! This is a nice jem in the middle of the downtown area and if you love thai food this is the place for you! Will definitely be back! Oh and we got a kick out of the huge mirrors on both walls in the bathroom. We just found it to be funny.

Had a great meal at this Thai spot! The crispy chicken was a standout—perfectly cooked with a delicious balance of sweet and savory. The raw onions on top weren’t my thing, so I’d skip those next time. The Penang curry was also a hit: rich, creamy, and not overly saucy, with tender chicken throughout. Definitely worth a return visit. Service was fabulous and we can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend.

Sisters Thai Cafe: A Cozy Gem Near Rockford Airport

We stopped by Sisters Thai Cafe on East State Street during a quick trip to Rockford, and I’m so glad we did!

This spot is less than 10 minutes from the airport, super easy to get to, and has both street parking and a small private lot. There’s also a cute little patio area for outdoor dining, which I can imagine is perfect on a warm day.

I came during lunch with my 9-month-old and didn’t have a reservation, but we were seated right away. The inside is small but cozy, with smooth jazz playing in the background and a really relaxed vibe.

The staff were amazing. I was greeted right away by two team members, and our server—Douangsone, was especially kind. She asked if we needed a high chair (they had one!), interacted with our baby, and was just so warm and thoughtful the whole time.

I asked about vegan options, and she mentioned that many of the dishes can be made vegan, including their Penang curry. I ended up going with the Pad See Ew with tofu and veggies, and it came out beautifully presented.

The first version I received had a more charred flavor, some folks love that, but personally I’m not a fan of burnt-tasting food. I didn’t even have to ask, Douangsone noticed and immediately offered to replace the dish. The second one came out perfect, fresh, flavorful, and just really well balanced. The tofu was nicely cooked, and the noodles had just the right texture. My baby even loved it!

One thing to note: the dish didn’t come with a traditional mixed veggie medley, but the bok choy or greens they used were fresh and tasty, and I actually preferred it that way.

Before leaving, I asked for a cup of water to go (I was still traveling), and without hesitation she happily packed it up for me. Just one of those little things that made me feel taken care of.

Also worth noting: they do not have a specific lunch menu, but their prices are reasonable—similar to what you’d expect from a good Thai spot. Most dishes run about $12 to $20 depending on what you get. I only ordered one entrée for myself, and it was filling and worth it.

A couple things to know:
• There’s no changing table in the restroom (it’s a small space), but I expected that and just changed my son in the car.
• The restaurant has a chill, intimate feel. Definitely a good date night spot or a peaceful lunch outing.
• I did see a family of 5–6 nearby, so it’s family-friendly, but not overly loud or crowded during lunch.
• You might want to call ahead for dinner or weekends—it’s small, so I imagine it fills up fast.

Overall, this place absolutely earns its 4.5 stars on Google, if not 5.
The food was flavorful and fresh, and the service was top-tier.
Would 100% come back the next time I’m in Rockford.

P.S. I have videos of both Pad See Ew dishes (the charred one and the corrected one), and let’s just say… you can see my baby’s little hand going straight in because it was that good.

We’ve been here 3 times and all three times have had the best service. So many restaurants fall short when it comes to service delivery. Here, they just seem to have a great culture and plenty of experience, and professional navigate every aspect of delivering a great customer experience. Thanks to the gentlemen that squeezed us in without a reservation!

Regrettably, my dining experience at this establishment fell far below expectations. The food was disappointingly flavorless, lacking the culinary appeal one would anticipate. Moreover, some items were not fully cooked, compromising not only taste but also safety.

A notable issue was the excessive oiliness pervading the dishes, rendering them unpalatable and leaving an unpleasant aftertaste. This excessive use of oil not only affected the flavor negatively but also detracted from the overall quality of the meal.

In light of these shortcomings, I cannot recommend this place to others seeking a satisfying dining experience. The subpar quality of the food diminishes the restaurant’s appeal, and improvements are essential to meet the standards expected by patrons.

We keep coming back here. Dine in or take out. And it’s always a good experience. It’s smack down in downtown Rockford. It’s always busy when we come. And luckily, we usually get seated quickly before it gets too busy. Both inside and outdoor seating are comfortably spaced. Cozy enough where you can still hear each other when it gets a bit full. The servings are plentiful with always enough for left overs. And the staff are always so friendly and accommodating
