I’m sharing this so people know what to expect.
I bought a slice of pizza for my friend. After one bite he said it tasted unusually sour, so he stopped eating it. I quietly let the owners know what happened and politely asked for a small refund on the uneaten slice.
Instead of listening or showing any concern, the owner became very defensive, made unnecessary comments, and reacted in an unusually confrontational way over a simple $3 request. I wasn’t trying to cause a problem — I was giving basic feedback so they could address it. Their reaction said a lot about how they handle customer concerns.
I’ve also been inside this location early before opening, and more than once I’ve seen dried-out slices still sitting in the display case from the previous day. If older items are being left out like that, it would explain why some of the food doesn’t taste fresh.
Regarding the photo of their roast beef “special,” the presentation in the advertisement speaks for itself. The bun is soaked, the sauce is messy, and the meat looks very unappealing. If this is what they use to promote the item, customers should know what to expect.
Between the sour slice, the lack of freshness in the display case, and the owner’s reaction to simple feedback, I won’t be returning. The photo says the rest.

There reviews are fake and customers have been pressured into forced reviews. Be careful and be perceptive they open at 10 and reviews flood in before there even open you can tell they are fake .. they try to discredit me and say I’m lying because they can’t take a honest bad review. It’s incredibly humiliating on their behalf . Do better Localist don’t just try and cover up your problems .

FOOD CRITIC SORIYA HERE! I only ever heard BAD reviews on this place. It was brought to my attention yesterday by my cousin so I decided well since I’m in the Amesbury area why not go in undercover and review this place. MISTAKE… BIG MISTAKE! Don’t even waste your time or money here! Ordered a sub then sent my Food Critic partner to order a pizza. If you want to die then this is the place to go. The pizza was soaked and seeping with grease needed about 4 paper towels to pat it. After 5 minutes started to fall apart. Pizza tasted extremely sour as if spoiled or left out for a long time. The kitchen immediately upon glance failed protocols & was dirty/cluttered. Saw Mickey Mouse running in the back too. My friends sub was absolutely grotesque and looked nothing like the picture on the menu above. The taste was very overpowering and not in a good way. Is it the best pizza place in town? THATS A HARD NO! If you care about your health and stomach. Best pizza places in town I’ve reviewed before are ROUTE 110 ROAST BEEF & PIZZA FACTORY! Meanwhile, ill be at City Hall writing a report & calling for DOH(Department of Health) because wow im shocked a place like this is still even open…

Localist is a diamond in the rough!! Just because they are in a gas station doesn’t mean they are not fantastic. The food is delicious!! We’ve tried quite a few items now including pizzas, calzones, chicken fingers, subs, and a few “appetizers” and everything has been absolutely amazing!! The people are always kind and friendly and always very welcoming. We are repeat customers and absolutely recommend trying this local restaurant for great food and service!!

We ordered from Localist last night and I can’t believe I slept on this place for so long! We called around and they saved us for a place open on New Year’s Day. Delivery was hot, fast and delicious. The chicken, broccoli, alfredo pizza was the best I’ve ever had-sauce was flavorful and tasted homemade, the broccoli was fresh and crisp and the crust was crispy and chewy perfection. The buffalo chicken calzone was great, but the star of the meal were the fried dough bites we splurged on! Hot, crispy, chewy, lightly dusted with powdered sugar and served with icing to dip them in! So delicious! And the pricing is super reasonable! Highly recommend!

I am writing this review today because this place is the ABSOLUTE WORST! Me & my sister went here a few weeks ago to get food the first time and we fell extremely ill! We had to be rushed to the ER in Newburyport we were clutching our stomachs tightly! We try to move pass it and thought it was something else we ate. So we went there a second time a few days ago… it did not get any better… we still ended up sick from the food only to find out the food was obviously frozen and had a sour taste to the “Golden Mushrooms”, another thing I’d like to state is the advertisement photos CONSTANTLY CHANGING! Plus looks nothing like the food presented whatsoever. The people are very rude including the man who works there he’s always negative with an angry attitude totally killed my vibe. They need someone from health department to come in and look at the food tbh. Honestly after this experience… McDonald’s isn’t so bad afterall… EDIT: Also just went through reading all the reviews left on this business, more reason why this place sucks. The way the owner responded to some of the reviews is sickening and cruel to me like telling someone that they can’t “Afford high quality beef” that’s low and the way he went off the same on others show that he’s really tapped in the head and messed up Giving this place 0/5 officially!!!
