Love this spot, it’s just about everything I could ask for in a taproom/beer bar. Cool decor, massive selection on tap as well as several refrigerators worth of cans, indoor and outdoor seating(pretty sure they have heat lamps but don’t quote me on that).
Stopped by last weekend when the missus was at a family BBQ; I went with some friends years ago but I don’t go out in MH much and I had almost forgot about because it’s a little tucked away and I’m a hermit.
Had I remembered the food truck situation I would have just ate there too but if you happen to be there and the cuisine of the day isn’t your style there’s plenty of good food in walking distance (I was eating some Mr.Falafel but I also strongly recommend Trail Dust BBQ).
Cool vibes all around and I managed to have a few conversations despite my introveredness. Also no hipster nonsense you occasionally see in places like T.R.S.A.H. For example, I noticed they had an Underburg sign(aromatic bitters similar to Fernet or Jaeger usually taken after a meal as a digestiv) and so I had to get one, but I had never seen them served outside of the Big Sur Taphouse.
Asked the gent serving me if Underberg was a common staple with taphouses/microbreweries and he said something to the effect of “Almost annoyingly so”.
Nice. Definitely my favorite bar in town, just wish they were open a wee bit later but I’m a night owl and there just isn’t anything else like it open till 1-2 but it’s well worth it. You can get a sip if you are not sure about a particular drink and overall the pricing is super reasonable, I was pleasantly surprised when I closed out my tab.
Next time I’ll definitely be trying whatever food truck is in attendance. Whenever the mood strikes and you are going to go to some corporate chain or a club up north go support a local business instead.
5/5 would bring someone from out of town
While there is seating indoors and out, this place gets HOPPING in the evenings and on weekends! The line to order a beer can get long but the bartenders work fast. They also have between fifty and eighty six beers on tap, depending on inventory – beers of all styles I might add. You can always see their current menu on the app Untappd.
They have two gender neutral, single person bathrooms that I have yet to see less than clean. They have some swag if you decide you want to give them some free advertising. Kids and pets are welcome and there is usually a food truck available during dinnertime hours.
Parking can be tough during peak hours as they don’t have a dedicated parking lot, but it’s worth the short walk if required.
