FOOD – The food was excellent with great presentation and multiple layers of intricate taste. For the appetizer, we tried the “Heart Attack,” which was true to its name—very spicy! The sushi was also great.
SERVICE – The service was quick, and our server Shannon was exceptionally friendly and kind
AMBIENCE – The ambience was excellent, and the booths provided a private, intimate feeling that makes it perfect for date nights. LOCATION – Conveniently located downtown, right next to Diamond Parking, with parking available at around $6.
WAITING TIME – We came in for an early dinner and were seated promptly without any wait

Food was good. Service could have been better. I look at my bank statement the following morning to realize I was charged an additional 8 dollars when I remember what my total was. Not okay. And because they are closed on Mondays and I went on a Sunday I have to wait an additional day before I can talk to someone to get my money back. Thankfully I have my reciept. I planned to go back for the food but honestly after this incident I don’t see myself going back there. I may add an update after I speak with someone.

This place has greatly improved since the last time I went here. The sushi was fresh and delicious. Love the monkey brain (not actually monkey brain)! If you love avocado and spicy tuna its a must try. The Double Double almost tasted like ceviche, it was an interesting but delicious roll, so good we grabbed a second one. Our server was attentive and friendly. She ensured our glasses of water were always filled.
We had been going to Sushi Pure but I think we may be switching over to Makota after this last experience. Thank you!

Overall good service and pleasant atmosphere. The menu had a wide selection of fancy rolls to choose from. Orders came out as they were ready so everyone got their meals at different times but it came out fairly quickly so it wasn’t too much of an issue. If you are in the neighborhood and looking for sushi Makoto fits the bill but I wouldn’t make a special trip for it.

I’ve had them before years ago and wasn’t impressed ( it wasn’t bad, just not great). I’m o glad I returned after seeing some posts because everything was absolutely delicious. Had the daikon Snow Angel, Shiro, crispy rice, and everyone was intricate in taste ith beautiful presentation!!
I’ll definitely be coming back!

Please like this review. 🙂 This place is DELICIOUS. Try their monkey brains appetizer! We love their crunchy rolls, bento boxes, and their gin cucumber drink is really yummy. Nice atmosphere, plenty of seating and we’ve always been seated right away. The servers are very nice and accommodating.

I appreciate the amount of detail they have put into the atmosphere. Everything from how the food is presented to how the fish are displayed behind the dining counter. I was very impressed by their Veggie Oregon roll. People (atleast in Portland) seem to think that specialty automatically means a giant glob of cream cheese is required. I also ordered a plate of Salmon in Miso sauce with steamed vegetables. The salmon was tasty. Worth at least another visit.

The rice on Chirashi was super soft, not sushi rice. The grilled chicken was not grilled. It was fried, then put on teriyaki sauce. The surface of the chicken was too dry. Calamaris were Squid Feet, but very fresh! Unagi Don was delicious, although the rice was not sushi rice, either.
