TAQ is a welcome new addition to the local food scene. A modern, stylish taco spot that, while on the smaller side, makes clever use of its space with an inviting outdoor area. Even without a reservation, we were seated comfortably, and the overall atmosphere felt relaxed rather than crowded.
The menu offers an appealing range of creative tacos, and the service deserves special mention. The staff were warm, attentive, and gave us plenty of space to enjoy our meal without ever making us feel rushed. A small but appreciated touch was the elegant bottle of water left at the table.
We started with nachos to share, and the half portion was surprisingly generous, perfect for two. Our tacos were very good as well. TAQ features a different special taco each day of the week; we tried the Friday Campechano, which was packed with flavor and a clear highlight. I also ordered the Sésamo taco: overall tasty, though the beef could have used a bit more seasoning (salt).
With prices coming in at around $25 per person, TAQ offers solid value for the quality and experience. All in all, it’s a recommended spot that I’d happily return to.

We visited Taqueria on Liberty Street in Ann Arbor today (Sept 27, 2025) and sat on the patio. Even though we had a reservation, we still waited a little more than 20 minutes for our seats and another 30 minutes for drinks after ordering and then additional 30 minutes for food. The food was good with around five vegetarian options, and the drinks looked great, and tasted decent.
The server was very pleasant and sweet but service was slow.

Probably my favorite Mexican food and not money have more experience eating different Mexican restaurants than me around here within an hour radius
Got some fusion vibes to it a little bit. The classics are still the classics though nothing weird. Fresh hot chips. Excellent guac and Verde.

It’s SO LOUD. Only 4 tables were full, and I couldn’t hear myself talk let alone my dining companion. The wait staff also had trouble hearing us while we ordered almost pouring in the wrong order. We corrected them three times before they got it right. I tried multiple times to order a drink, but they kept ignoring me and walking away. On my third try, I was told it was already on its way, even though it was the first time successfully ordering it. I was not surprised when the drink did not materialize. Service was slow, and the food was mixed. The meat was incredibly flavorful, but the toppings didn’t match. I scraped most of them off. My friend did not agree, saying the meat on their tacos was bland. Glad we tried it, but we will not be going back. If they put up and proofing to absorb some of the sound, this would be a much nicer place to eat.

This is a great restaurant for vegetarians with lot of very good and delicious options. I had the Coliflor, Berenjena and Tofu. The tofu was my least favorite. It was too dry. But the Berenjena which was with eggplant was divine. My daughter had Barriga, Coreano and Vieira. They were all equally delicious.
I will definitely be going here again.

Tacos took about 45-50mins to show up and were basically lukewarm. The tacos themselves feel overpriced ($6) for what they are as they are stacked high with fluff toppings and sauces but are low on meat and flavor. Falafel taco was decent, everything else sort of blended together into meat texture and mush. Eating them was kind of a chore. The hot chocolate is good tho, super yummy.
The servers are not to blame here, it was end of shift and they seemed super tired. They were helpful and polite.
Felt sort of like Pinterest aesthetic met college bar and they had to serve food as an afterthought.

Tried this place for date night a few weeks back and felt it was good but overpriced and a bit overrated. I ordered a variety of tacos to try and a appetizer of chips and salsa. The tacos were good but not great. The yogurt taco stood out most with the creativity but price was $5 a taco. Chips were very thick and stuck together. Salsa was on a spicy side but good. Overall I probably wouldn’t go back because I have had better for less but great experience from the staff and clean place.

We had lunch here on a Saturday at around 2pm. We were seated right away as there was not too many people there that day. I was impressed by the variety of taco style options. My favorite was the barbacoa. However, I felt that for the taste, $5-6 for one taco was too pricey. Also wasn’t impressed by the atmosphere in the building, as tables are packed together and it’s quite crowded. Outdoor seating may be a better option, when it’s nicer out. The raspberry mint lemonade was great. Overall, a good lunch option in AA.
