We went to this place for Valentine’s Day. We needed a reservation. The service was amazing. The waitress was knowledgeable and gave us recommendations. All the dishes were great. The salad that has orange (I don’t remember the name) was very refreshing before the main dishes. The Tiramisu at the end was the cherry on top. The place is very clean and we did not wait long for food even though it was packed that day. I recommend this restaurant.

People never talk about how much fun going out to eat can be. This place is FUN.
You have to come hungry and do the whole experience. Appetizer for two is awesome. Pasticcio is my favorite pasta I’ve had in years.
The red snapper was amazing with the caper and olive sauce.
Our waitress made it all so fun and relaxing. Took our first course and packed it up just in time for the second.
Dessert all looked good but we had to finish with Limoncello.
What a fun place to eat and spend a little time. From the ambience to the food to the people working there.

Great job everyone!

We went for dinner on a Saturday evening and sat on the patio. We didn’t have a reservation but were able to be seated quickly. We started with the lemon calamari and it was incredible the creamy lemon sauce was so light and the perfect amount of citrus.

We had the special (lamb rigatoni) and the vodka rigatoni. Everything was delicious our waitress was so kind and told us all her recommendations.

Finally we finished dinner with two lemon cellos which was home made and the end of a perfect dinner!

By far the best espresso martini I have ever had!

My husband and I stopped in today. We were seated quickly and our server was very nice and professional. It was our first time dining here. The Bruschetta bread needed to be a little more crispy for my taste, but still good. I had a beet salad which was delicious and our pasta/chicken dinners were very good. Overall it was a nice atmosphere and the owner stopped by to see how things went. He was nice.

This is a tough rating… I loved the atmosphere, it’s a little cramped in there. They shove too many tables in the area. But the calamari was ! The pasta alla vodka was fire! The chicken tosca… some of the worst chicken iv3e ever eaten. Not sure if we got a bad batch… the staff was nice about it and took it off the bill. My daughter and I both took a bite and looked at each other…. it was off.

I almost never write a bad review for a local restaurant but feel like it’s my duty to let others know they shouldn’t waste $100 of their hard earned money at this restaurant.

My husband and I were very excited to visit this long standing restaurant in Royal Oak. I actually thought, it’s been there a long time so they must be doing something right. I have visited many years ago and the food was delicious, service was good and vibe was that of an authentic Italian, family run business.

Last night however seemed extremely reminiscent of an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. We were greeted and seated promptly to an almost empty restaurant at 5:30. Several others joined within a few minutes. Weather was cold and windy, so thought it might have something to do with it.

We quickly ordered Bruschetta, Pasticcio, and Spaghetti Al’Amatriciana. Bruschetta ok, bland tomatoes (but it’s the winter), liquid quickly saturated the bread and made for a soggy bite after the first couple.

The pasta dishes were absolutely inedible. The Amatriciana was so gamey and overcooked, it definitely felt like it was a pre-made sauce and possibly frozen. As my husband tried to eat it, I could smell the meat across the table. If you’re wondering, I have ordered this before and made it myself and it should not smell or taste the way it did. The guanciale wasn’t crispy, rendering it’s delicious fat or anything resembling how it should taste. The Pasticcio was definitely made and frozen. It was cut into a square and covered in a creamy meat sauce to disguise rubbery, chewy pasta on every single side of that cube. Unacceptable quality and so disappointing.

We will not be back ever and I feel like Luigi’s vision has turned into a tired restaurant struggling to survive.

My fiancé and I went here for the first time and we had a great experience. They sat us at the bar while we waiting for our table and had a drink. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The polenta appetizer was delicious and we had tiramisu for dessert which is absolutely worth ordering. We were pleased with our meals, we got the gnocchi and veal Marsala they were good but we will be going back and probably trying something different.

I had a lovely evening at Trattoria Da Luigi. Our waiter, Nick, was very attentive and made the evening truly memorable. The bruschetta was fresh and flavorful, and the gnocchi casarechi was a delightful dish with a rich, savory sauce. To top off the evening, I got a bottle of their white wine to go, a perfect way to extend the enjoyment of the meal at home. Highly recommend for a cozy and delicious Italian dining experience!

We went there as a large group and ate family style. The food was amazing! The tortellini melted in my mouth. They had gluten free options, also. The staff was friendly, attentive, and gracious.
