  4.7 – 63 reviews   • East African restaurant

We are an African inspired grill restaurant fusing the most delicious sauces from around the world. All our meats are freshly cut in-house, marinated in our unique blend of house spices and grilled over charcoal. As a family, our life’s journey brought us to Hopkins where we found a community that appreciated food as much as we do. In the name of community we were inspired to bring some of our original African spices and recipes to share with the people of Hopkins.

This is a quality East African cuisine option in Hopkins. You can’t beat the combination of prices and portion sizes. Goat meat with rice, salmon with rice, gyro wrap, and chicken sambusa were all delicious and enjoyed by the entire family. So much seasoned gyro meat that I could barely fold the pita bread. The goat meat was tender. The salmon was juicy and the sauce on it was solid. I never had chicken sambusa before and it was incredible! Quality service and the wait times aren’t bad at all (worth it for the fresh food). I will return to Gedi Grill.

What a Wonderful Meal! My first West African dish I had the Chicken Suqaar When i say The West African flavors Shined, They Did Indeed!! Super Delicious! The Basmati Rice, secret spices, tomatoes, lettuce, with the spiced Green sauce and Suqaar Chicken, plus the Coriander seeds i believe made the dish something to remember. Not only that, the cook was very informative and nice to me. Customer service was beyond what I thought of. Thank you Gedi Grill . 5 Stars!!!!!!

We ordered wings and it came with fries. Beautifully fried as well. This could be a meal in itself! The steak (was AMAZING) and rice. Steak was sliced so thin and marinated and juicy. Sambusas were some of the best I’ve had. All the sauces were amazing. And the chai! Very spiced and very sweet and delicious. This is reminiscent of masala chai, so don’t expect a teabag in hot water! Took about 20 to get the order as well! FILLING servings!! And they are open for Ramadan!

Recently visited Gedi Grill in Hopkins for halal food. It’s a new restaurant with groceries and money exchange in one place. Like the overall place, food was good and prices were reasonable. Highly recommend their Gabeyre Wrap with chicken.

Wish if they could add partition between grocery items and sitting area.

This looked like a new place, more of a grocery store than restaurant so u might be better off taking it to go;
I had the Chicken Gabyere and it was good; they didn’t provide enough spices for the entire sandwich
Service as not good; staff doesn’t speak English; I asked them to make fries extra crispy and they ended up giving me another fries order and made me pay for it!!

Fantastic sambusa, loved the jabati too!
I ordered chicken suqaar and it came with shredded romaine, a serving of a cabbage, pepper, potato medley, and a serving of a fresh tasting spinach vegetable dish. An enormous piece of jabati was included with the dinner AND a huge cup of fruit juice. I chose guava.
I ordered a single sambusa and it was spiced delightfully.
The sambusa and the dinner all were generous portions.
The young men running the shop were full of smiles and very friendly. I will definitely be back and bringing my friends.

Just discovered a new Somalian eatery offering my favorite dish, chicken suqaar in similar quality as Sambusa King in the same city. A bit pricier but I think the quantity makes up for that. The photo I posted is after I already half of the portion.

my gabeyre wrap was most excellent! didn’t know this place existed until today, was trying to get some breakfast on mainstreet, but most everything was closed at 9:00 a.m., and luckily I found this place. I hope to stop here again sometime in the future and try it out. some other menu items.

Good food but it’s more like a take out counter. Friendly enough staff but they are also working the super market.

We got the full Chicken Suqaar over rice. Super good, crazy big portions. We also got the Gabeyre Steak wrap, which was like a drippy quesadilla that my kids loved.

Affordable, tastes incredible.
I decided to try out a takeout order for my office for lunch today.
The staff was friendly, food took a bit longer than i expected but the wait was absolutely worth it.
From what I can tell, nearly everything is all made in-house which is impressive these days.
We tried the lamb gyro, sambusa, gabeyre wrap, chicken suqaar, and bengiets. Everything was hot, fresh, and had incredible flavor. On top of that, the portions are GENEROUS. 65 dollars for a 3 person meal with leftovers for days is great. We will be ordering again!!
