Visiting the Lobster Shanty was honestly underwhelming. Based on what I had read and heard beforehand, I expected something far more impressive or impactful. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t quite live up to the hype.
While it’s interesting from a historical and conceptual standpoint, there wasn’t much there to really engage or wow visitors. The presentation felt minimal, and without stronger context or interactive elements, it was hard to fully appreciate its significance.
It’s not terrible by any means, but it’s also not somewhere I’d go out of my way to eat at.

Visited this restaurant in October, off the season. Have no idea if it is open year around. There was no hostess, and we were served by the guy who was behind the counter. The room with the bar was full, so we had to stay in the left side of the building, and had the menu with only soft drinks, no alcohol. The prices are high, because of sea food. The place itself is very old, and has some maritime related decor.
There was plenty of parking outside.

We had a great dinner here. I odered the all you can eat fish and chips. I had the haddock was delicious and plentiful. Wife ordered Chicken nuggets, and they were great too. Both came with fries and coleslaw. We ordered the onion rings for appetizer, and they were excellent. Love the atmosphere. We went on Tuesday night, so it was easy to get a seat.

This place is absolutely wonderful! It was our very first time trying lobster, and the staff made sure we had the best experience possible. They helped us choose the perfect lobster, explained everything patiently, and even showed us how it all works. The food was incredibly fresh and delicious, and the service was warm and attentive. We left with such amazing impressions! Highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting Cape Cod — make sure to stop by and try their outstanding lobsters.

I had my very first lobster roll today at Lobster Shanty. The hostess kinda rolled her eyes when we asked to be seated inside. The gentleman that took our order was very friendly. This is how I’ll judge all future lobster rolls, since it was my very first. The steak tips looked mighty good, too. You can also get live lobster from the boat in the front lobby of the restaurant – it’s kinda like death row for lobsters.

After visiting Cape Cod National Seashore, we decided to try lobster rolls for a taste comparison with the ones we had in Bar Harbor Maine.
These guys win hands down! The lobster was cooked to perfection and the meal came with fresh delicious coleslaw and a pile of hot crispy fries. Mmmm mmmm.

We came to Cape Cod at the end of October and most of the restaurants had closed for the season. Those that were still open did not serve lobster, at most they had lobster bisque soup. Our hotel didn’t have any good suggestions either. I found the Lobster Shanty online and happily they are still open this late in the season. My husband was able to get a 2.5 lb lobster at what we thought was a very reasonable price, and I got the lobster roll which was great as well. Quick and friendly service, great food, and a casual atmosphere. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We recommend if you are looking for seafood in the area.

A terrific spot for a meal! We saw this place when heading to our hotel in Truro, and had to try it out for lunch.
I got the fish and chips, and they were fantastic! So delicious, flakey, and melt in your mouth. The breading was also perfect!
Portion sizes are huge! You won’t go hungry, and you won’t regret getting their fish and chips!

Great place to eat. Definitely 5 stars. Not sure why there rated at 3.5 stars. The staff was fun and entertained the kids even let them take a picture with a lobster. The food was great and Definitely worth going back for. I will be going back again on this trip for the endless fish and chips? How could you go wrong with a endless fish and chips for $17.95

This place was SO wonderful. Quaint little place right in Cape Cod. Definitely must stop!! We had the calamari, coconut shrimp, buffalo shrimp and burgers and both forms of lobster rolls. Every single plate was exceptional. The service was great very warm and personable. Very clean and decorated really well. Thoroughly enjoyed our stop. Even took a photo with our favorite waiter
