Great place for breakfast. Very nice and friendly customer service, delicious food at a reasonable price. We ordered an omelette and a skillet and our food arrived very quickly and it tasted delicious. I highly recommend this place and I plan to return for their special Friday fish fry.
Revision: and we did return last Friday for the fish fry, which was delicious by the way. Highly recommend it and the salmon was also good as was the shrimp dishes we ordered. Our server was very nice and our dishes didn’t take long to come hot and steamy from the kitchen. And we get a chance to talk to Ben, the owner of this lovely family owned business. We’re looking forward to another visit once we are back in the area.
And we are now back having tilapia and cod, fish fry, delicious, worth a trip to this restaurant !

Food was decent but I was disappointed in the cleanliness.
We had biscuits and gravy, swedish pancakes, over easy eggs, bacon and sausage. Most of the food was good except the bacon was over cooked and hard.
But the worst was I watched our waitress go from clearing dirty dishes and handling money to delivering food without ever apparently washing her hands. She delivered my wife’s pancakes with her thumb in the pancakes. It just made us uncomfortable with anything we touched.

My favorite place to visit! Spending my husband’s money locally is super important to me. So I feel fortunate to have this place so close to home! Great people, service, and food.The energy is great. It isn’t all glits and glam. More like the local diner you’d see depicted on tv as a kid. When you need a place to go to unplug or enjoy the simpler things look no further than the cherry valley cafe. It’s clean, cozy, and great for an affordable hot meal. Tons of happy regulars and friendly exchange. The only thing it’s missing is turkey bacon.

We had to drop someone off at the Rockford bus station and were looking for a quick place to have a decent breakfast before we headed to the Anderson Japanese Garden. We chose this restaurant randomly, and we were very pleasantly surprised. It’s located in a tiny little old-fashioned downtown area, very charming. The restaurant was nondescript decor wise but very comfortable. Where this restaurant shone was the food and the service. Our waitress was very friendly and efficient, and the food was outstanding. I ordered the Swedish pancakes platter. The pancakes were amazing! Also, I had the best hash browns I’ve had in many years. Ask for them extra crispy. My husband had biscuits and gravy, which can be very risky to order because you never know if it’s actually going to contain any sausage. His verdict on this dish was two thumbs up and yes, it contained actual sausage! We highly recommend this charming little place if you’re looking for a satisfying breakfast.

I have found a fantastic breakfast place in a beautiful small town called Cherry Valley near Rockford, Illinois. I ordered a waffle with scrambled eggs and sausage and bacon. The food was excellent! My waffle was perfectly crispy on the outside and the syrup was warmed! Thank you Cherry Valley Cafe! I live in Texas and I hope to come back here again someday.
