Absolutely love Tang Bar! It’s such a fun concept where you get to build your own bowl exactly how you like it. The selection of ingredients is huge—lots of fresh veggies, meats, and noodles—and the station is always clean. The broth was incredibly flavorful (I got the medium spicy and it was perfect). Great spot for a comforting and customized meal. Highly recommend!

Mediocre malatang for $14.99/lb in a small, crowded space with slow service. Waited 40 minutes for our food and had to stand around for seats to open up. I didn’t enjoy the hot & sour broth or the dipping sauce bar. I’ve eaten at many soup restaurants. This is the first time I disliked both the soup and sauces. My dipping sauce tasted worse the more I tried to adjust it. Worth noting: they include the weight of your bowl in the total, which some other places don’t.

On a more positive note, I appreciated the large ingredients selection. Despite the small area, they maximized their space well and the ambience is nice. They have free ice cream bars available in the freezer.

Food is very average. I ordered spicy one, and it’s very oily. Cannot even drink the soup. Ingredients are not fresh and contaminated with each other. For the price: $16.49 per pound, and weight is not transparent. Drink and rice are expensive as well. Menu is boring. The smell of the restaurant is not good either, like pork intestine.

Tang Bar offers an incredible variety of soup bases for malatang. I tried the laksa soup base, a unique Singaporean/Malaysian coconut curry flavor that I haven’t seen at other malatang spots. The selection is impressive, and there’s even a dedicated sauce bar where you can customize your mix with garlic, green onions, regular onions, cilantro, chili peppers, and peanut sauce. The pricing is fair too, at roughly $14.99 per pound. I managed to get a lot of food for $20, though I did find their rice a bit pricey at $2.50 per bowl. Overall, everything else was excellent!

We finally visited here w my Mimas for our Vimi’s birthday luncheon celebration on a Tuesday at noon 12.16.25

My bestie heard great reviews about this DIY Hotpot bar located inside Brea mall on the 1st floor. Across from Red Robin burger restaurant and near the Macy Men/Furniture Department side.

Service here is really great especially associate Thuy is awesome and great. When asked if she’s able to wipe down the table before we take the table next after another customer was finish dining. She also checked on us a few times.

The restaurant is nicely done w greenery decor and clean.
It’s a bar where you get a bowl and fill in whatever vegetables, proteins, different types of noodles like glass noodles and ramen available.
Than at the end of the station, you weigh your bowl, pay for it. There’s associate take your bowl you made and cook it for you on the broth you choose.

The spice isn’t so spicy at all. We got the Malatang JUST A KICK.

There’s a dipping sauce bar where you make your own dipping sauce.

Only bottles drink available for purchase or complimentary water station.

They offer Free ice cream Sandwiches & popsicles for dessert

I’ll definitely return with my hubby or family to enjoy again. Love the concept of this DIY hotpot. Especially for this winter weather or rainy cold days.
Another great spot to eat at a mall and it isn’t fast food.

HEADS UP…eating near the entrance/exit of the mall at the sliding door booth/table. You may possibly get a very special uninvited guest FLY buzzing around. The Cons/negativity trying to enjoy your meal in that area/seating. FYI

I tried Tang Bar Malatang for the first time today and it was sooo good. I ordered the Sichuan mala, and you could literally smell it from far away. The flavor was rich, spicy, and very aromatic.

They also have a great variety of seafood options, which I really liked. The only downside is that they don’t offer rice, only noodles. I wasn’t in the mood for noodles this time, so next time I’ll probably bring my own rice or get it to-go and eat it at home.

The broth does get saltier the more you eat, which honestly pairs perfectly with rice.

The ingredients here are incredibly fresh, and the variety is much greater than other Malatang places I’ve tried. The food is prepared very quickly, and you can choose between Malatang (with soup) and Malaban (dry mix). Both taste amazing! Unlike many other Malatang restaurants that tend to be overly salty, the broth and base here are perfectly balanced — flavorful but not too strong, which really suits my taste.

The restaurant is also very clean and well-organized. I love the unique interior design, and the space is large enough that even during busy weekends, I never have to wait long for a seat. There’s also outdoor seating available, which is a nice touch.

Overall, I highly recommend this place — great value for money, delicious food, and excellent service. I’ll definitely be coming back again!

For $14.99/lb the price this is on the higher end for malatang places. However they have a wider variety of ingredients, so i think you are paying for the extra choice. I got the laksa soup base and the mushroom soup base, both with low sodium. I think the fish cakes tasted a little off, but the rest of the Ingredients tasted fine.

I do wish they were more clear on whether the gloves were for meat or vegetables, since they only gave u gloves for hygiene purposes. There were plenty of seats for a weekday lunch, and there was even free ice cream via the self serve freezer. However you dont know what flavors you get. I think i would prefer they just stock it with icecream cups…

I took my son to the mall and ate here because it’s convenient. The store opens to the mall, so it feels pretty roomy.
You get to choose from the food they have at the counter and they boil it in different broth for flavor. I’d say it’s quite a lot of choices here and it’s easy to go over than what I can eat, LOL.
I ordered two bowls, one spicy for me and a chicken broth for my son. The broth tastes so natural and my son drunk it up, which is an amazing surprise to me!
Love this place and really like how you get to choose what food you want to eat!

New mallatang bar in Brea mall did not disappoint! All the ingredients looked clean and fresh. For those new to mallatang – you start on one end of the food bad, grab a bowl, and start assembling your ingredients. At the end, you pay by weight of your bowl. Its really easy to go overboard so I would say less is more..
For the soup flavors, the laksa is a really good mild flavor. Slightly sour like tom yum. For spicy, the Szechuan spicy flavor is REALLY hot so I would definitely stay lower than that unless you’re really into spice.
