Had a great experience. My server, Monroe, was incredibly kind and knowledgeable. She recommended the strawberry fields sandwich (it was FANTASTIC). Hands down the best sandwich spot in Portland. Ingredients are fresh. Sandwiches are stacked! Staff is super friendly. The cheesecake has no business being as good as it is. My partner and I are working our way through the menu. Highly recommend this spot.
I don’t agree with the 3.9 star rating at the time of writing this. A few people have complained about it being dirty or taken away stars for things that have nothing to do with the food. Take that with a grain of salt when you come here to get your giant, delicious sandwich from super friendly people.

Loved my sandwich a pastrami rueben on marble rye. The meat was so juicy and delicious. Serving sizes are huge. Hubby had a 3 cheese grilled cheese sandwich and chunky homemade tomato soup. The soup came with herbed croutons and was the perfect companion for dunking. The cheese pull was truly admirable. Seek them out today!

Stopped in here for a brunch break, drove a school bus for a field trip, and this seemed to be the only spot in the area that was open early enough with a customer friendly restroom and indoor seating, on a somewhat chilly morning. Plus the name was bonus points in my opinion^^
I had some things to tend to on my laptop, put my headphones in and could barely hear my music over the music they had going, which dont get me wrong was jammin but i needed to focus on tasks at hand. I also had a few personal phone calls during my visit there, and each person on the other end thought i was in a club or that children were playing in the background haha needless to say the music was over-bearing, unless you are just wanting to kick it with some friends.
Otherwise it was a comfortable atmosphere all in all. The staff were super They definitely have some space that could be updated and put to better use, since they seem to serve beer.
The spicy tofu sandwich was bomb delish, but expensive and my bevvie was insanely over priced…. $5.49 for a small red bull..?
Anyway, the asthetic is chill. I dont know if that is enough to bring me back but its facts ♀️
Oh and lastly, the sandwich definitely tasted fresh, veggies and all. If i come back that is for sure my why

What happened? I used to come here or order from here fairly often and it was awesome. It’s been a few years and just tried again and the sandwiches are significantly smaller with stale bread.

Visited here while waiting to go to a show nearby at the Roseland. I have seen this place on doordash and Uber eats etc. But I’ve never been here. It was an easy choice because the menu looks great!
I had the full size brisket french style dip sandwich. At first I was confused because there was no au jus. The worker explained to me that they marinate the meat in it and sometimes I have a problem chewing bread and typically stay away from sandwiches which is why I like the “juice”.
To my surprise it came out and the bread was the most freshest most tastiest bread I’ve had in so long, last time. I probably had good bread like that was when I lived in upstate New York. The sandwich overall was delicious, tasty and did not lack in any way shape or form. I’m kind of still dreaming about it and can’t wait to have another one!
We went in and surprisingly this place was not busy. A friend of mine had a different sandwich and loved it just as much. So I don’t know why this place isn’t super busy all the time or maybe they just do a lot of online orders. Definitely my favorite sandwich place in Portland!
They have a couple arcade games and there’s tons of table top seating.
Don’t second guess Charlie’s deli is the best! Don’t skip this one!

Run down, grungy/dirty feeling establishment serving huge delicious sandwiches. Got the half turkey sandwich and was pleasantly surprised by how large it was. The service was nice just moved at a snails pace. I was the only one in there and it took 10 minutes to get a sandwich. They also had extremely dirty shirts they were wearing.
Would definitely come back to get more despite these things. The restaurant has no atmosphere but don’t think people are coming here for that.

Not sure why there’s any low reviews but wanted to give a big shoutout to the whole crew and staff. Charlie and his crew are absolutely incredible and super friendly. I used to work in the area and would trade haircuts for sandwiches but even now my girlfriend and I still order their sandwiches occasionally. Worth a visit and deff a gem in old town for sure

I’ve gotten The Rachel several times and it is usually amazing, but this time it was so bad. Soggy bread, meat and other toppings on only half of the sandwich. The end of my sandwich was also entirely cut off? Not in half, just the end… really sad. I’ve ordered late at night and not had these problems before, they are usually consistent so I am very disappointed.
