My wife and I had a very nice experience here. Birch Run Deli and Bar has a small town bar vibe, and the staff was very polite and helpful. We ordered a ruben and cheesesteak, both were delicious, though the cheesesteak was a bit heavy on the salt. I could see my parents hanging out here in their hayday.

Birth Run Deli and Bar is a true countryside gem! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with great country music that sets the perfect vibe. The food is fresh, local, and absolutely delicious—real comfort food done right. A perfect spot to relax, enjoy great flavors, and soak in the country feel. Loved it! Thanks for CHEF SAM for yummy burger ❤️

We were in the area and read the positive reviews for Birch Run Deli so we were looking forward to giving it a try. However, we were very disappointed. Here’s my honest review…
We ordered 3 sandwiches. The corned beef and Swiss, the Borough Bridge, and the daily special combo ( Deli Deli sub) on 6 inch, it came with soup and a drink. Total was $48.23, I did tip. Only one guy was working both taking orders and making food, and he seemed
new, which is the only way to describe it. We requested all sandwiches to be cold. The deli deli and the borough bridge both came with warmed meat but cold bread, which was strange and made them soggy and unappetizing. Why grill the meat when we asked for cold subs? The corned beef was ok but riddled with fat. It could’ve been trimmed significantly. Neither of the other sandwiches came with a drink or side, so for a price point of $40+ (I thought that was quite high) for 3 sandwiches, I was expecting superb quality, true New York style sandwiches which is what they advertise as. This was NOT it!!! Previous review says they are under new management so perhaps that’s why it wasn’t as good, but there were also only two other people in there when we ordered. If we hadn’t gotten our food to go I would’ve returned the sandwiches and asked for a refund. If they want to make it right, I will take down my review, otherwise I think others should be aware and spend their money elsewhere.

We stopped in, hungry for some soup. This little deli had a delicious homemade chili, which was perfect for the gloomy weather. We left filled and satisfied. A hidden gem.

Was a bit dubious about the 4.9 rating, but after eating here, the deli here is very very good. The bread is light and fluffy, and the meat is plentiful. I suggest you try their homemade mushroom soup, corned beef and swiss, and their Brooklyn pastrami sandwich.

Don’t be fooled by their restaurant appearance. Very friendly owner/chef.

You will drive by this place and not even notice it except for the sign outside. Lovely management, great food, eclectic atmosphere! Had a blast! Food was definitely made order and very tasty!

Came in with a group of 12, they were very accommodating. The food was excellent and tasted fresh. Wish they had some kids meals though. Would come back again!

An average of 4.9 stars tells me that the people who frequent this sandwich shop haven’t been to many deli’s outside of this town.
Let me begin by saying that I take price, quantity, and quality into consideration when rating an establishment.
They weren’t “bad” sandwiches, but they were nothing special, and when taking price into consideration, they definitely fell short.
We bought a Philly, full size, a Rueben (reg. size) and a small Sicilian. No sides, no drinks, $41.59.
Very small and narrow, hot dog size buns for the subs. Maybe 3oz of meat. Cheap white “texas toast” bread for the sandwich.
I was not impressed at all. The pictures posted to Google do not resemble anything we got. My thumb is in the Rueben pic, so you can see how tiny the sandwich is.
There are so many better options available.
Not to mention, the inside lobby (dining area) was dirty.
We will not be returning.

This might be a contentious opinion, but I think Tony’s in Birch Run is overrated as all hell. Do they measure their portions by the shovelful? Sure, but quantity =/= quality. My recent experiences have been Big Meh.
However, step outside and throw a pebble down the road and you’ll hit the roof of The Birch Run Deli.
Simple, unpretentious, and vastly superior comestibles.
This chicken club had me dancing in my chair.

We saw the reviews and wanted to try some where local as we visited Frankenmuth and Birch Run. BIG MISTAKE. This is got to be in the top 5 worst places I have ever eaten at. First, and you will find this out yourself, the reviews on here are all FAKE. We ordered 2 Reubens and chips. The chips are the very small size bags that they give out on Halloween. Not even deli shop size bags. I watched the guy behind the counter help another customer, take money and not change gloves. The sandwiches were very poor in presentation. $14 EACH!!!!!! No Cheese. Just meat on toasted bread. For what it’s worth, the Corned Beef was not sliced fresh. It was clearly from a pack and low grade. The ABSOLUTE WORST part was the Cole Slaw. It was cabbage with MAYO. It just simply wasn’t Cole Slaw. We were disgusted but had already paid and it was too late to back out. The “Meal” came with a cup of Pop but the Pop machine was dusty. Actual Dust in the reservoir. A thick layer. The photos of the shop do not match the atmosphere. It feels like it was sold and the pictures were from the previous owner. Only one person was working. His English was not very good and made us uncomfortable staring in our direction for long periods of time. A few other odd things….The guy behind the counter made a big deal about how they had a “Speak Easy” in the back. It was 11:30AM and I wasn’t really interested in having a beer. The room is an actual bar but again, there was a thick layer of dust on the table so we declined to eat in there. Probably the worst and weirdest part was that the bathroom had a Bidet attached to the seat. There was a note on the wall with instructions on how to use it with the phrase “BE CAREFUL” listed 2 different times. We ate less than half of our sandwiches and ultimately threw it all away as it just wasn’t good. We both felt nauseous for the next few hours. I would NEVER eat at this Deli again. I would be highly skeptical about their reviews being legit. I would like my money back but I have not been able to get in contact with the “owner.” The whole experience was weird and gross. Go anywhere else. You’re playing with your health and taking a major chance of getting sick.
