My partner and I went in for drinks and snacks the other night and had such a great experience. Our bartender, Pete, was fantastic — friendly, attentive, and made us feel completely taken care of. The whole vibe was relaxed and welcoming. We’ll definitely be making this one of our go-to spots!

We supped here in early October as it was close to the hotel. (Delta)

Servers were decent chaps, the kilts added to the experience, menu (current October 2025 version in the photos, hopefully not cut-off by Google software) is obviously skewed to Scottish / British and had enough offerings to satisfy. Watch out for the very sharp cheese on some.

The choices of whiskeys lived up to the establishment’s name. However the WB Sour I had was a bit lacking, needed a double shot.

They offer local live entertainers but we departed prior so no comment there. The space itself is rather cramped with few tables, a side “lounge” area not conducive to eating a meal and of course bar seating.
Overall it’s mostly best for casual whiskey sipping and bar snacks over conversation or the entertainment.

Cost-wise we felt it was a bit dear for what we ordered.
Definitely a go-to for whiskey connoisseurs, but not really “family friendly” if you have kiddos, for us a one-and-done.

Rick was amazing! He recommended the best Fish & Chips in town and made up a lovely non-alcoholic drink! Perfect way to end a tiring day! Definitely recommend going to The Whisky Barrel and ask for Rick!

Awesome atmosphere. Great good. Rick is mint and the cooks are sick. Will be coming back anytime we’re in Sault

On a cross country road trip and stopped in as it was close to where we were staying and were blown away! The shepherds pie was delicious with the addition of the melted cheese, all the desserts were handmade and the old fashioned was the perfect end to a meal. Honorable mention to the fish and dips that were perfectly battered with a super flavourful tartar sauce. We also got the curry sauce as a dip and it was very authentic to
Uk style.

We enjoyed every aspect of the Whisky Barrel. The service, the owner and the food were all excellent. I had the Shepard’s Pie and Cranachan, it was absolutely delicious!
The prices are very reasonable.

I absolutely was looking for a cozy little place to just have a drink a little bit of food after a day of work. I was from out of town and this place was in walking distance from the Holiday Inn even from my fat ass. Don’t be distracted, by the name they do offer a rotating craft brewery tap selection that is excellent. I know they would be mortified but to me Canadian Club is whiskey. I’m a beer guy and Bud Light is not beer.

I’m a big fan of in-house from scratch food and this place hit the nail on the head. The bartender Sean was very passionate about explaining their food and rotating craft beer menu. He was very happy to give suggestions in both the beer, and food menu and knew what he was talking about!

I had the Scotch Egg and Potato and Leek soup, both were clearly made by somebody with a little bit of passion for what they were doing. Nicely done guys.

Sean was so inviting he made my day with anecdotal conversation. I’m not sure if he owns the place or not, but he certainly seemed to have the characters that would say he did. Great job, bud!

Sorry if I spelt your name wrong.

In conclusion, I would definitely go back to this place thank you for making my evening. Until next time go brave.

I could describe the food as elevated pub food. The sheppard pie and the Scottish Egg were quite satisfying. They have a good list of beers and whiskies. I went for the Glenfiddich 15. They also had live music. The person helping us was very nice as well. Recommended.

Stopped in for dinner on February 16th. Found The Whisky Barrel and saw Scottish pub. Read some of the reviews so decided to have dinner there. The owner recommended the fish & chips which were delicious! The chips are hand cut and cooked perfectly. Everything is made in-house. Highly recommended.

Ok so first of all, the bar tender is my new most favorite person. He was so great, and did not steer us wrong on the food recommendations. The drinks were delicious, and the food was amazing. Absolutely will be coming back
