I love all the restaurants in Philly’s Chinatown but I am gonna have to say it … this one is my favorite. The Cantonese dishes are ON POINT and cover all the bases. They keep it traditional old school and delicious. The chef(s) are truly wok hei masters and the endles ingredients needed for Cantonese cooking are fresh. Always friendly chats with waitstaff. Bonus points for the owner’s Toy Tsan connection.

Good food, very nice customer service.
Have all kind of special food for parties.
Waiter and waitress are so friendly and checking to clean our table and exchange new dishes.
I planned to eat at the New York Chinatown but it was early to have lunch there, so on the way home, we stopped by Phila Chinatown. Will come back again with friends and families whenever we go to NYC or visit Ocean City.

The crab with minced pork and hot chili was the highlight, with delicate meat inside and a salty, savory shell that made me mouth water. We also had the flounder with Black pepper that was hearty and hot, with the flavors balanced by white rice. Staff were easy, quick friendly, and the spacing and acoustics were at a good noise level.

Seafood restaurant in Chinatown. This was from two separate visits.
Fried Eel in XO Sauce with Snap Peas – Surprisingly light dish that was good. The flavor and texture of the fresh, crunchy peas and tender, mild eel balanced each other out nicely. Was hoping for a stronger flavor with the XO sauce, but still good. A little pricier at $36.
Steamed Oysters with Scallions – As others have said, huge. Like big as your hand. Visually impressive but they were just ok. I would skip them to try something else.
Fried Rice with Salted Fish – Ok. Nice smokey flavor. I wish there was more of the fish though.
Sauteed Clams with Minced Pork and Hot Chili – Good!
Pan Fried Noodles with Seafood – Very simple and straightforward dish.
Stir Fried Pea Leaves – Delicious. Great vegetable dish.
Salt Baked Duck Chins – Highlight of what I’ve had here. Crispy, crunchy exterior with a delicious pop of salty, juicy rich duck meat. Kind of an upgraded, decadent chicken wing. They do have small bones but if you can get past that they’re very rewarding.
One of the more senior restaurant staff said they go well with the Tsingtao I was drinking. I could make a night of coming here with friends and eat plates of these, throw in some steamed shrimp, and a bunch of beers.
Food was solid. If I come back I’d definitely go for their more unique specialty items. Very good service.

The food was amazing here. Never thought there was a place serving seafood like this! We had Lobster with Minced Pork, crab fried rice and Sauteed Dungeness Crab with Minced Pork & Hot Chili. All made us wonder why we waited so long to come here.

YUMMY! Went to the auto show for the first time in about 10 years with my nephew and his eldest daughter. He has a magical touch for finding great restaurants and food. He did it again the wonton soup was excellent; the veg. roll was pretty good and the sweet and sour shrimp was the best I’ve had in over a decade. They still put in the pineapples, cherry and the green pepper with delicious sauce and no other restaurant in the area I’m aware of makes it this way anymore. Thank you so much the service was very good and the prices are a little high. P.S. I don’t know anyone that works here and in no way benefit from this review. I just put it in so intelligent consumers can make their own choice.

One of the all time classic places to eat at in Philly – if you’re looking for great seafood dishes, a wholesome Chinese family dinner, and large, tasty portion, you should come to this place.

HORRIBLE!! The place is nice & I think the employees are nice, but they were talking in different languages & I was getting a vibe that they were talking about us. The food was sooooooo bad & expensive! I got shrimp fried rice, sweet & sour shrimp & fried scallops & shrimp. The shrimp fried rice had so much egg & onion in it. The sweet & sour shrimp was so big & mushy. The sauce was good though. The salted scallops & shrimp wasn’t seasoned. Was mushy & didn’t come with the chili sauce that they advertised. The drinks are can soda, no refills. I also think they charged me $10 extra dollars for no reason. The whole place was definitely sketchy. I won’t be going back.

We had a great experience for dinner at Tai Lake.
The place was full of people who ordered fresh shrimp, eel, fish, and crab for dinner.
We opted for the seafood casserole and a beef with mixed vegatable dish. Both were fantastic. The casserole was full of seafood. The beef with mixed vegatables included tender slices of succulent beef. Mmm Mmm Good!
Go where the locals go. Go to Tay Lake.
