If you’re anywhere near Waukee, you have to stop by Cancun Grill and Cantina! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm, friendly service and a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere.

The food was absolutely outstanding — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The chips and salsa were the perfect start, and our entrées were served hot and packed with authentic flavor. The margaritas were some of the best we’ve had — perfectly balanced and generously sized!

The staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, checking in often and making us feel right at home. It’s clear they truly care about their customers’ experience.

Whether you’re going out for a family dinner, date night, or just craving amazing Mexican cuisine, Cancun Grill and Cantina is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be back again and again!

Stopped in for early dinner. Greeted at once and seated. Was brought a good sized basket of chips (house made) and salsa ( house made, could have had a little more cilantro)
Ordered El Moro Chimichanga. 12 inch tortilla stuffed with pork and I mean stuffed!!
Wife had Seafood chimi, which was stuffed.
Guacamole on mine was house made.
Was a little skeptical because of some of the reviews.
Service was great, pop and tea refills provided. Prices in line with other similar establishments. Food was good. We will return.

The staff was very nice. The food was mediocre at best. We ordered a “Tony” quesadilla, cheese enchilada and beef enchilada. We were given salsa and chips when we sat down. I was not impressed, and will not be returning.

First meal I got here, no complaints.

This 2nd one- birria Tacos.

Wayyyyyyyy too much salt. Like an insane amount of salt. They give you 3 birria tacos and I can barely finish this first one it is so salty. Great flavor. Just way too much salt…

Please reduce the salt on this and it’ll be perfect.

My taco Diablo. The meat suppose to be a spicy chorizo. But what a got was something fried, not sure what. No spice, no flavor, a few diced onions and radish. No sauce or flavor. But what bothered me more was the bill. The total was $150.00. I put $200.00 cash down. Never got any money back. I was going to tip but I feel that is my choice how much not his. I hope they enjoyed my $50.00 tip because we will not be back.

Went to this restaurant with a friend for dinner. We both ordered shrimp. WAY overcooked and wasn’t very good. The menu is extensive but honestly, if they would just focus on fewer menu items, it may help.
Wait staff was rushing us to order. Food came out, plates were cold. My meal was supposed to come with tortillas…which never arrived with the meal and I had to tell staff.
My friend asked for a box for leftovers (to bring to her dogs)….i asked for one too. They brought 1 box. Then after some time, they came to pick up the plates. My friend said I didn’t get my to go box…I told the waiter to just take the plate. Honestly, it would sit in the fridge until an appropriate amount of time passed to throw it out.
Never going back.

Food is overpriced and nothing special, margaritas are gross, there were gnats (bugs) on the water and salsa glasses. Also it was very warm inside the restaurant. WE WONT BE BACK! 2 meals 2 margs $55!

Service was a bit slow, wasn’t terribly busy. I could suggest numerous similar priced places with better food and drinks. Good decor, food just wasn’t it, great if you enjoy things on the blander side and drinks with more sugar than tequila.

Check your receipts. The drink menu price presented in the store did not match the price from their computers when they printed the receipts out. Computer prices were higher than the menu prices. Not sure how long this has been an issue but it would certainly cost customers a lot more money over the long term and seems very deceitful. Food and drinks were good but pricy. Similar restaurants provide more for less than it cost here.

A rotten T-bone steak! Due to the weather, I ordered through DoorDash. As I started eating and savoring that delicious T-bone, a slight taste of rottenness reached me. Halfway through, I realized it was rotten. The manager and his servers didn’t notice the smell; I was practically the one with the bad nose. I didn’t receive an apology, only indications that the product was very well selected. Be careful, people.
