This is a great place to eat! Can’t say enough good things about this restaurant. The food was fabulous!! Best I’ve had! Very spacious seating and great atmosphere. There is a large fireplace that adds a nice glow and comfy feel to the dining area. Our server was wonderful. Highly recommend!!

A charming place with delicious food, great service and a cool atmosphere. The drinks were perfect. We’ve eaten at many places all across the country and this is by far, the best place we’ve encountered in the past 10 yrs. If you don’t give this place a try, you’re the one missing out.

So not to jump past the details… but overall Balance was just ok. It is a place I’d try again because I feel like it has potential and maybe it was an off night.
When I found them online I was jazzed about the menu. They have a lot of unique options which I’m a huge fan of. It’s always easy to find basic menus, so to find something fun that also offered a kids menu (meaning, cool… I don’t need to worry about taking my humans even though they’ll be ordering off the regular menu) was promising.
The space itself is funky in a good way and spacious. It spans a few different rooms which all have their own vibe, and we saw igloos outside!
I’d say our food had a 60/40 success rate. The hummus was seriously awesome, as was the risotto. My protein power bowl was so tasty with a great dressing and I absolutely love that they have creative vegetarian options.
Our server was so kind, but I’m not quite sure where they were for most of our visit.
Again… maybe an off night. We’d try it again.
If you’re someone who needs a changing table, they have one!

Writing this review has me very conflicted. To set the stage, Saturday night, valentine’s day, reservation in the igloo. That being said, I’m coming from a place of understanding that it’s probably the busiest night of the year so I write this with understanding that there was going to be a speed bump or two and that’s okay. I’ll start with the good. First time igloo experience… chefs kiss. Super dope atmosphere for a romantic evening. I ordered the thai salmon…. second chefs kiss. Perfectly cooked, seasoned and plated. Lastly, our server seemed like he was genuinely doing the best he could with the circumstances but it felt like a doctor trying to revive a patient whose heart stopped last Tuesday. Now for the bad… buckle up. We got our first cocktails 20 minutes after ordering followed by the girls getting theirs 10 minutes after that. They were out of all of the appetizers that we wanted so we opted for fries and pizza to start. The pizza arrived about an hour in. The fries will not be seen for a while. We sat down at 8pm. At 10pm, two of our meals arrived with the waiter informing my girlfriend that they are now out of the steak she ordered so she had to get something else. After being told that they were out of the second thing she asked for, she was so upset that she opted for just the garlic prime fries (which arrived after all of our meals and I don’t think they were even salted). Also, by the time our food arrived, there was only about 2 tables left in the restaurant so the originally benefit of the doubt I gave them for being busy was fading. The sickest part of this whole experience is that I had a ring in my pocket ready to go to tie the knot. Unfortunately, the vibe to propose was completely dead after knowing my girlfriend didn’t eat anything but two espresso martinis. The waiter did comp our meals after we asked so we only had to pay for our drinks and good tip to the waiter who was trying his best. It is unfortunate that even after the waiting, we were having such a good time in the igloo that I would’ve been very quick to shoot a 5 star review if my girlfriend got to eat. Overall, I can’t speak for how their service is on a weeknight, so my only advice would be to be wary of date nights late on a weekend. Overall, the potential for an amazing evening was dangling in front of us like carrot on a stick except the they were out carrots.

Stopped here for a night out dinner and sat in the vault room which was a neat atmosphere with lots of history through the years but utilized nicely here. Prices were impressive for the quality of food and menu items were great. I appreciated that wraps and burgers were available but they were very good and unique. Really like the Buffalo cauliflower and Brussel sprout appetizers. Good amount and fantastic taste. Also nice selection of drinks. All around a great experience and will be happy to return.

I would rate the service even higher if I could. The food was delicious and came out quickly. We had a choice of indoor or outdoor seating.

Loved the menu options and loved the atmosphere! The food was very good and the prices are reasonable considering the quality of food being served. They also have an outdoor seating area. I would most definitely recommend this restaurant!

A gem on Main Street in Johnstown. Creative, delicious menu served in a beautifully restored historic venue. Reasonable prices. A great way to show off our developing downtown to visitors and a reason for locals to want to come into the city.

We’ve been to Balance a few times, but on all occasions, the food has been excellent and the service has been great! We ate in the courtyard this time and the weather was beautiful. It’s completely shaded and very comfortable. We have dietary restrictions (vegan) and they were so accommodating and checked to make sure we were okay with the ingredients. We got the protein power bowl and we also got the sweet and spicy pizza and we modified to have no cheese or pepperoni and they offered to add veggies and we added roasted carrots. It was absolutely delicious!
