New Sheffield Public House opens doors in the Shoals
Reviews
The restaurant has a very inviting vibe that fits the “public house” theme perfectly. Inside, you’ll find warm wood accents, exposed brick finishes, classic mirrors, and framed pictures lining the walls. It’s cozy and atmospheric without being too dark or heavy. The bar area is especially well-designed—it’s clear that some real thought went into both the layout and the look. Whether you’re coming for a casual drink or a full dinner, the seating feels comfortable and gives off that welcoming, pub-style coziness. The lighting also plays a big role—it’s soft, warm, and really makes the space feel alive.
As for the food and drinks, we were very impressed. We started with the hummus and pita appetizer, which was fresh, flavorful, and a great way to kick off the meal. Their drink menu is also worth highlighting—they have a solid selection of cocktails and spirits, plus their own house beer, which I really enjoyed. It’s smooth, balanced, and pairs perfectly with the kind of dishes they serve.
For our main courses, we leaned into the pub classics and ordered the Fish & Chips and the Shepherd’s Pie. Both were excellent. The cod fish in the fish & chips was cooked beautifully—crispy on the outside, tender and flaky on the inside. The Shepherd’s Pie was hearty and flavorful, with that comforting richness you expect from the dish. Everything felt fresh, well-prepared, and elevated beyond just “pub food.”
All in all, Sheffield Public House is a fantastic addition to the Shoals area dining scene. If you’re looking for a place that combines a warm, inviting atmosphere with great food, well-crafted drinks, and that classic pub feel, this is a spot you’ll want to check out. Whether you’re a local or just passing through the beautiful downtown of Sheffield, it’s definitely worth a stop.
I wouldn’t mind revisiting the Sheffield Public House frequently in order to sample more of the items on their fantastic menu. Thanks for an amazing first experience.
By the way, before I finish this, the chef creates and makes all the sauces and desserts, which are really original and great tasting.
So being in alabama with catfish, fillets, everywhere you turn around, I had to come and check out fish and chips, because I love fish and chips almost as much as I like catfish…
And boy was I surprised when I got my meal. These cad fillets were so perfectly breaded and crispy on the outside that I will be back. I’ve had good Fish and Chips elsewhere. But the chef, here really, is it tries to get it right, and he really nailed it on the head of this perfectly.
Additionally, for an appetizer, we had the mediterranean plate, which is pita bread, hummus, a blend of olives, peppers and relish, and some taziki sauce that is really outstanding.
Their selections of drinks are unique. We also had the mediterranean bloody mary guinness on tap and a straight to ale’s double.
We finished off with the cheesecake.
Food was delightful both times. The cocktails were great as well. I definitely recommend the fried mushroom appetizer and will come back when I’m in town.
She walked us to our table the place was empty around 1pm I asked her where is everyone she shrugged her shoulders.
Ordered fish & chips with peas when that came out we saw the peas in a little sauce container we asked her what is this she went back to ask the cooks they told her they were Mediterranean peas with tomatoes in there!
I ordered a Mediterranean plate the chopped olives was very salty as if someone just poured the salt on it!! 🙁
We was going to order the English breakfast we asked her are the beans Heinz baked beans the lady had NO clue she told us they were pinto beans we said to her told does not sound right she went to find out she came back she told us they were the Bush’s beans.
Poor service
Food not good will not be returning back specially when you know your dishes!!
