Great little bar. One of my favorites in Royal Oak. They don’t serve food, though. Which is fine with me!

Unsetlling experience with the gray beard doorman that behaves in a way that is clearly endorsed or otherwise encouraged by ownership to make visitors uncomfortable. The several mentions of him throughout reviews indicate as much. At the very least, be mindful of him very obviously trying to appear as a patron to make a scene or otherwise antagonize guests. Again, similar experiences have already been shared in other reviews. Management if not ownership would have to of seen these reviews and find it amusing to set up patrons for an uncomfortable and wierd experience. I’d encourage anyone with weird experiences to share them in a public forum such as this so that those enabling it can at some point be held accountable for the environment they appear to be deliberately creating. Be prepared for the same experience. I can only imagine what cleanliness of their taps look like if this is the standard.

Most proper Dive Bar in Royal Oak! Honestly, it’s one of the only reasons I ever step in Royal Joke. The place retains the ambiance of yesteryear but has lost some of the aesthetics inside like the booths & i think! Is the litteral cadillac that was mounted on the wall gone? ;( decent beers in draft and a serious dedicated Warsteiner Tap! Decent stocked bar- parking is available, but RO parking enforcement make coming to downtown RO in general a serious pain there is a parking structure for free behind it. Recommend coming here not on the weekend

Not sure how a bar with five people in it still manages to feel unwelcoming, but they pulled it off. The bartender asked me to lower the sound on my phone even though the place was dead silent. Definitely not the vibe if you’re trying to chill.

You’d be better off hanging out on the active train tracks across the street. The door guy w the white beard was a weirdo. He was giving dirty looks before we even got to the door and the vibe just shifted. Couldn’t tell if he was joking or not. He stared at each ID for about 30 full seconds. All while making very emotional comments that none of us thought was serious bc we hadn’t done anything but say hello. Just soooo off putting. Wouldn’t even scan my ID and told me unless I had my debit card (??) or something else with my name on it I couldn’t come in. If you don’t wanna scan my legit ID bc you don’t trust it?That’s one thing. But have some basic manners and act like you’ve been outside before. Complete power tripping loser

Staple of the Royal Oak area – my folks got pints here, their folks got pints here, and now I’m getting pints here. And there’s good reason it’s stuck around so long. Cozy, welcoming, and all around reasonable dive bar.

I had a great time at this place.
The drinks were priced well, and they did the job.
The regulars were looking out for me as I had a little too much.
There were a lot of new people coming in, including myself, and it seemed like we were welcomed by the crowd.
I will be coming back to have more great times.

Empty bar, no vibe, and the bartender still told me to turn my video down. If this place is trying to chase customers away, they’re doing a great job.
