Enjoyed happy hour pretzel and wings. The short rib nachos were pretty good – the part of my dislike was because it had a Cheese sauce instead of melted cheese and there wasn’t any salsa served with it.
Our favorite appetizer was the buffalo cauliflower wings! They were cooked perfect and had a delicious cucumber dressing to dip them in. The Waygu sliders were a bit overcooked but still had good flavor with the caramelized onions and house sauce. Our other favorite app was the deviled eggs! They were topped with smoked bacon, I could’ve eaten 3 more of the eggs but they were great!
I am very surprised that a restaurant in the middle of Scottsdale can not tell you what items on their menu are gluten free. We were excited to eat here for lunch after it was recommended by a friend. When you didn’t have a gluten friendly menu, that was fine so I tried to see if I could modify from the existing menu. I would have loved to have the Short Rib Nachos so asked if the cheese sauce contains gluten. I was met with a “we can not confirm if the cheese sauce contains gluten because we don’t make the cheese sauce here.” When then asked if we could see the label on the package the cheese sauce comes in we were met with “we don’t have it. we threw it away.” The only item on the menu that was suggested to not contain gluten was the Brussels sprouts. This into my first rodeo with navigating a menu to accommodate my dietary restrictions. When the server could not make any other recommendations or offer any options, why wasn’t the restaurant manger brought to our table to help or someone from the kitchen?
I guarantee I am not the first person with a gluten allergy to walk into your restaurant hoping to enjoy your food and I guarantee I am not the last who has walked out after ordering a beverage only.
In 2025, in Scottsdale, I shouldn’t have to play menu roulette just to avoid gluten. You’re surrounded by dozens of restaurants in this area that manage to handle gluten free questions without blinking. We left and had no trouble finding a spot that knew their own menu. If Cook & Craft wants to stay competitive, they need to catch up fast.
We also had the poke tostado—generous portion of tuna, but the kale mixed in is just weird and the green guac sauce wasn’t good. A nice Asian slaw or some pickled ginger would step it up immensely.
At least one signature cocktail on the happy hour would also draw something vs only on weekend. The white sangria used to be a fave. In AZ, a craft margarita would be easy to mix up too -prickly pear, blackberry or hibiscus. Whatever is trending.
We love(d) this place and realize economy is tough, but your loyal customers will keep coming if you keep the quality up-even if prices are higher. Also, just replace your A/C or swamp cooler. It’s been 3 visits months apart and always a cooling issue!! Agh!
