Ordered a brisket sandwich with no cheese. Their menu description says sandwiches are served with local Roots chips and that the sandwich itself comes with grilled onions and cheddar cheese (which I nixed). For 16 buckskins, I am expecting some meat.
What did I receive? Just a sandwich (no chips!) with cheese, 50/50 meat and peppers/onions(?). I just sucked it up and ate it as it took a great while to get the food. Pics attached for you to decide if that is commensurate with the price and description.
I also bore witness to another order fiasco (which I believe was the reviewer Mentor M). In no uncertain terms, they asked for a plain jane brisket sandwich with pickles. As far as I could hear, it came (wrongly!) loaded up after their own 20+ minute wait. They opted to take it home and pick off the ‘extras’ after letting the workers know. There were two other orders (ourselves included) before them; not busy at all. Perhaps if the cook(?) didn’t leave and yap with friends in between orders, they might’ve been able to pay attention.
You also claim (in a reply to another review) to not have a card tip option which is completely false (it prompts after you tap/insert the card). I will give you the benefit of the doubt and say you probably need to figure out your POS terminal a bit better and that you’re not being deceitful.
Edit: I am going to leave the above review unchanged, albeit critical. This is a reply to the owner response:
As for the POS terminal, I’m fairly certain it just defaults to the tip screen, so I won’t fault you on that. I would, however, refrain from replies like “We do not have a screen that requires a card tip” if you are still learning. If you don’t know, you don’t know – that’s fine.
I’m fine with chit chat, so long as two orders aren’t in queue. I’m not sure what was happening behind-the-scenes, it just appeared as if orders were on hold because you sat down at the table with them. Especially with your setting, most people aren’t going to raise a fuss over minor errors (especially if they take it to-go). I’d do base touching rounds if you wanted to pop out between orders. I still don’t know how I ended up with peppers on a brisket sandwich – that’s bonkers.
I agree Google is a great tool. It informs others on what to expect and can identify trends. For example, a slew of incorrect order ‘mistakes’ can probably be interpreted as a systemic issue instead of a one-off. Same with portion/price ratio, which is debatable (to an extent) as it is BBQ. What meat I had was good and you do seem eager to rectify mistakes, but I would say a incorporating a proactive approach to solving these issues is better than staying the course.
I first tried this BBQ at an event they catered, and wow — I was instantly hooked. The smoked brisket was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The turkey was incredibly moist (which is hard to pull off), and the burnt ends? Absolute perfection — caramelized, smoky, and melt-in-your-mouth.
I tracked them down again at their food truck on 1st Street — super convenient spot, and the same amazing quality. The staff is genuinely friendly and makes you feel like a regular, even on your first visit.
They’ve now made it even easier to get your fix with pickup and delivery through DoorDash. Whether you’re craving a quick lunch or planning a family dinner, it’s just a few clicks away. Can’t recommend them enough. If you love BBQ, this place is a must.
