My wife and I are always on the hunt for a good breakfast experience. Mel’s Commonwealth Cafe is a bright and cheery restaurant with friendly service and good food portions. The menu had a great variety of food options, too.

Local resident; respect that Mel’s has been open for decades and people told us to try it. We ordered a spread between old and new: the famous Benedict along with some holiday spiced French toast. Place was packed, even at 8:00 on a Saturday morning. Our service was rushed, sides were forgotten initially. The French toast was fine but didn’t seem much more than you’d make at home. The Benedict was (sweet?), covered in bechamel, and cool to the touch. The scrambled eggs were mostly scraps. I may return in future for the pancakes, but was hoping for a little more for the $$$.

It was super amazing! Went on a Sunday morning and it was packed (for good reason!) Despite all the customers, the service was still pretty great! I had the pancake sandwich, and it was awesome. It was way better than I expected. Also, their muffins are AMAZING! Do yourself a favor and get one of them poppyseed muffins 😀 Toasted and buttered is OOOHH BOY!
It was sort of expensive (just shy of $20/person) but probably worth it. Staff was friendly and attentive as well! I’d totally reccemed Mel’s Cafe!

Mel’s was wonderful! My father and I were visiting town for my sister’s graduation and wanted somewhere to get breakfast. We chose Mel’s based on the good reviews and no wait time. It was my favorite meal the whole trip. HUGE portion sizes with unique flavors that are delicious and satisfying. I got an Omelette with the home fries and a side of the featured apple French toast. I was not expecting how much food I was going to receive! The home fries were seasoned like Thanksgiving stuffing and the French toast tasted like apple pie. Only took off one star from service because it was hard to flag down our server. Go to Mel’s, you will be glad you did!

Mel’s Café never disappoints. The food is delicious and the staff is friendly. The place is always full, but you always find a place to sit or only need to wait for a few minutes to be seated (Not waiting for 2 hours is definitely a plus).

Love this place! Looking for a new weekend diner and I’m so glad we ended up here. Service was quick and friendly. At 8:30 on a Saturday it was busy but no wait.
I had a bennedict special with corned beef hash, and my companion had avocado toast with eggs. Both were delicious and very generous. Timing of drinks, ordering and so on was just right.
I’ll definitely be back.

I would give this place 100 stars if I could!!! The food was incredible and the service was fast. Parents – run don’t walk to Mel’s! We brought our 2 littles (20 months and 2 months) and everyone was incredible. They were so kind despite the normal toddler chaos and even offered to cut my food for me while I was breastfeeding so I could eat too. Literally the best experience we have ever had dining out! I could have cried because of how nice they all were. Thank you so much Mel’s!!!!
