So kind and food was also delicious!
The sauce, chicken and fries are soooo good
I’ll start with the appearance of the restaurant itself. Is actually a really cool looking place. Very well decorated and it was very clean. Bathrooms were very clean too. Plenty of seating, and they had great Christmas decorations (they used Christmas Vacation, the best Christmas show ever).
Next, and more importantly, the food. First off it was very pricey for what it was. I got the Caniac combo which was a 6 piece tender combo and it was $16.25!! I was willing to get it in hopes it would be so delish that it would justify the price. Well it didn’t. The tenders are very small, which is a shame for the price. You get a good amount of fries, but they do not season them so they’re bland. So here comes the special sauce. The sauce I see videos of, people dousing everything with it, people getting extra orders of, etc. It was just ok too. Essentially it’s like a ketchup mayo mixture with a lot of black pepper and a hint of lemon. Just a small kiss of the lemon. Like I said it’s ok, but I make one at home that’s way better imo (ketchup and mayo, black pepper, and a kick of cayenne pepper and garlic powder). The tenders were juicy and actually cooked perfectly, however no seasoning in the batter. So like the fries, they were just bland. The other sides were the coleslaw and the Texas toast. The coleslaw was fresh and crisp, but like everything else, it was lacking in flavor. Now the Texas toast was by far the best thing I ate from there. It was toasted perfectly, and had a nice buttery/garlic taste to it. I would go back just to get an order of the toast. It actually saved this from being a 2 star review.
In conclusion, I won’t be going back, to me it’s nowhere worth the price and it certainly doesn’t live up to the hype. If they seasoned their batter for the tenders and also seasoned their fries it would definitely take the place up a notch. Maybe back off the pepper in the Cane sauce a bit, and go a little heavier on the ketchup in the mixture the sauce would be great. They have the tools to make good food, but lack the seasoning skills to execute.
Bottom line: College goodness. Limited menu, but they do chicken fingers really really well. I guess that’s the whole point.
Fast and easy.
Loud and vibrant. Inexpensive.
Don’t come here if you want a huge menu.
It’s sort of a perfect place for a college campus.
Note that no alcohol is served.
Staff were super friendly and once I actually placed my order came out quickly. The interior is small but feels cozy, with plenty of booths and eclectic decorations. The food, of course, was delicious as always
We get home and the tenders were perfect. It seemed they added an extra tender if the pieces were small.
It made for a good day!
