All I can really say to sum up our experience is – AMAZING. Really, no other words will do it justice. I cannot recommend Crane and Pelican enough for events. I reserved the restaurant for a reception dinner and was totally blown away, especially by the incredible staff and owner. I have gotten so many compliments on the restaurant, the staff, the owner, the food, etc., and I want to give credit where it is due. Several guests have mentioned how beautiful the night was, and the event was truly memorable. The staff totally worked their butts off to make it so. I could go on and on. Thank you again to the owner and staff that made the event possible.
Side note: To top it off, the pricing was incredibly transparent and reasonable. I was able to text the owner directly and always got quick responses which made planning easy! As if it couldn’t get better!

Excellent and comfortable atmosphere overlooking the river. Attractive building with period decor. The BLT sandwich is awesome and the salads are great. Be sure to try the fire crackers! Our server Cheryl was welcoming at made great suggestions. A fantastic casual dining experience with great scenery. We will definitely be back.

I loved this restaurant! I ordered a full sized Niçoise Salad, and as the generously loaded plate arrived, I thought, “Well, this will make a lovely lunch tomorrow, too.” But bite after bite, I enjoyed it so much that I ended up eating nearly all of it. Seared fresh tuna, lightly seasoned and tender, and their homemade FIRE CRACKERS which add a crispy, salty, spicy crunch to a delicious dish. In addition, what a BEAUTIFUL location: dramatically high ceilings, lovely decorations, a nice view of the Mississippi River. This is a great restaurant. Cheryl was our helpful and friendly server, and the owners stopped by our table as well to assure we had a good experience. Highly recommended!

Charming vibe overlooking the river. BLT had a generous amount of bacon and the toast was perfectly crispy yet soft. French potatoe salad was light and herby. The summer sangria was refreshing and not overly sweet.

Such a cute place! We stopped in for lunch based on a local recommendation and were not disappointed. From the outside the place is gorgeous and only got better on the inside. It feels like you are transported back in time but keep modern day amenities. There was only one individual working the room, but she did a great job keeping tabs on all customers and making sure they were greeted with a smile and quick service. The food was simply delicious! Whether you are a local or just visiting I highly recommend stopping for a bite!

Outstanding experience on a Monday evening when most restaurants were closed. I never eat meatloaf, nit had the meatloaf special and it was fantastic. Salad was also very good. Charming atmosphere and location with good service.

This is the coolest lunch spot. We just moved to LeClaire from Italy and this small town has so many surprises. Crane & Pelican Cafe is so delicious. We were a party of 3 and ordered, the meatloaf, saffron rice and soup, and the chicken salad— everything delicious but I think my favorite was the meatloaf. I returned the next week with my husband for dinner: he ordered the salmon and I got the BLT— so good! The staff is amazing and had great recommendations. We look forward to frequenting this place. Highly recommend

Stopped at Crane & Pelican on our way to Iowa City for lunch. The atmosphere was wonderful, a quaint, old house located right on the Mississippi. We ordered the lunch portion of our meals, my husband and daughter ordered the cajun pasta with chicken. When the bill came, I was stunned – they charged $17 for a small piece of chicken breast on the lunch portion of the pasta – $30.95 for a lunch portion of pasta and grilled chicken, which was overcooked. When I asked the server, she said it was due to inflated cost of meat. Shocking. Menu should be clarified, as we would have never ordered a $17 piece of chicken on a $13.95 bowl of pasta. We assumed the $17 was pasta with chicken.
Overall the food was good, the spinach & artichoke dip had way too much cream cheese, most expensive chicken I ever paid for was overcooked but my tuna melt and pickle soup was good.

We had the most delicious meal in the most relaxing atmosphere looking out on the Mississippi river. I, like sweet drinks, and I had the most delectable French martini made by Autumn. We had chicken salad on croissants & ham and pineapple soup. For dessert I had homemade vanilla ice cream, and Hot fudge. But my husband had crapes filled with orange cream sauce. And those were incredible. I highly recommend this place. Just wonderful!
