Service was great and they were very friendly. We ordered the falafel pita which was good, but we also ordered a chicken shawarma. The shawarma was filled with three different types of various slabs of mystery meat with colors ranging from yellow to dark brown and looked incredibly processed and nothing like the photos. It all tasted the same and we felt mildly ill after.
Note: The AI labeled the photo as having pita chips. Mind you, these supposed “pita chips” are actually the chicken.

A great place to eat and a wonderful place to be! I came here to get some Mediterranean food and RIGHT when you walk in it is sooo cozy inside this restaurant. Well decorated, it feels like being served by family. Everyone was genuinely kind and even gifted us some baklava! I definitely recommend Sam’s, 9.5/10

I’ve been going here for a decade and Sam’s is still my version of Disney Land. Truly a magical place. Sam is the most genuine and lovely person who is absolutely a pillar of the community. Any chance I have to go back to Davis, I make it a priority to visit and get a spicy mixed over rice.

It’s a decent spot, and the food tastes authentic. My friend and I had the chicken & rice combo. The chicken is cooked on a gyro machine, so the flavor and texture are a bit different from the typical “food cart” style chicken & rice — but it was still tasty.
The accompanying salad felt a bit rushed, with the veggies chopped into big, uneven pieces – wish they were cut into small pieces. That said, the restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere and a touch of cultural charm that adds to the experience. The restaurant is in a really good part of the town.

We purchased the bowl, beef and chicken. The portion is huge, and the bread tastes really good. Yet, the food is so greasy. The quality of the beef shawarma was so low, the chicken was not bad though. Service? Very low. And the restaurant indoor or outdoor was not really clean. I do not recommend this restaurant all in all, considering the price and quality.

Excellent customer service. The staff here are very welcoming and prepare takeout orders very quickly. They are now able to take card payments.
The spicy shawarma has sriracha on it, which tastes amazing! I recommend the spicy mix shawarma on pita. The portion sizes are perfect.

Sam’s has been a part of my life for over 20 years. I started coming here as a student at UC Davis, and all these years later, it still feels like coming home. So many late nights, casual dinners, and spontaneous meetups with friends have started (or ended) at Sam’s. The food has always hit the spot—comforting, flavorful, and made with care—but it’s more than just the food that keeps me coming back. It’s the feeling of familiarity, the kindness of the staff, and the sense that this place has quietly stood as a constant through so many different seasons of life.

Love. Super crispy and moist falafel over a fresh salad with excellent quality veggies and pickles. The flavorful hummus side was also excellent with a drizzle of olive oil and veggies and pickles to dip along with the warm flat bread. Easily in my Top 2 for falafel and I can’t wait to return for another go and to try the baklava.

The brightly lit interior coupled with the sizzling from the kitchen were some of the first things that caught my attention as I entered Sam’s. I couldn’t help but feel relaxed with the simple black chairs and brown tables that hide intricate Persian-style rugs beneath them. The cooks quickly served my food, beef over rice topped with sumac onions, in a simple recyclable container. Plastic utensils and a can of Diet Dr. Pepper accompanied my delicious meal
