Kochin Hut was absolutely delicious. Every dish we ordered was full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The chicken tikka masala and butter chicken were rich, creamy, and well balanced. The goat chettinad had amazing depth and just the right level of spice.
The chicken lollipop was a standout, great flavor and presentation. The garlic and butter naan were fresh and perfect for soaking up all the sauces.
Service was exceptional … attentive, friendly, and welcoming throughout the meal.
They don’t serve alcohol, which wasn’t an issue for us, but good to know ahead of time. Overall, a fantastic experience and we’ll definitely be back.

Tried the chicken lollipop, Kochin calamari, chicken dum biryani, butter chicken, and plain naan — everything was delicious. The starters were crispy and flavorful, the biryani was aromatic, and the butter chicken was rich and creamy. Ordered chicken biriyani chicken is little bit old. Ambiance is good. Portion size is very small and the price is very high eg I ordered butter chicken serving size is very low you can look up the photos I shared below and also compare the prices.

I ordered Chicken Biryani from this restaurant and was extremely disappointed. Instead of biryani, I was given three big pieces of chicken with almost no rice at all. I didn’t pay $24 to eat only chicken pieces—biryani is supposed to have rice as the main component.
It honestly feels like the restaurant is cutting costs, serving less basmati rice and more chicken just to maximize profit. On top of that, the chicken smelled stale and bad. I’ve attached pictures for reference.

Was very disappointed with the portion sizes for the price. The samosas were the smallest I’ve seen, only two for $8? If the flavor of them was amazing I could have looked past it but it wasn’t.

Visited Kochin Hut this evening and had a wonderful dining experience. I ordered the dosa with chicken chettinad curry, and both were outstanding. The chef nailed the spice levels perfectly – everything tasted incredibly authentic. I also had a fresh lime which was refreshing and well-made.
What really stood out was the staff – they were friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better with their welcoming service.
Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for genuine South Indian flavors!

We had such a wonderful experience with Kochin Hut! We placed our order around 2:30 PM, thinking we could pick it up before they closed at 3 PM. When we reached the restaurant, I realized I had accidentally selected a 5:30 PM pickup time instead.
Even though it was close to their closing time and the mistake was completely on my end, the staff were incredibly kind and understanding. They graciously prepared and handed over our food without any hesitation. On top of that, they even gave us extra plates and utensils, which was such a thoughtful gesture.
The customer service truly stood out — friendly, accommodating, and genuinely caring. It’s rare to find such hospitality these days. Thank you for going above and beyond! Highly recommend supporting this amazing restaurant.

KOCHIN HUT in New Haven is an absolute gem for anyone craving authentic North/South Indian flavors! We tried the Cochin Calamari Fry, and it instantly transported me to the coastal kitchens of Kerala, perfectly spiced, crispy, and bursting with flavor. The Masala Dosa was equally impressive, super crispy, generously filled, and served in a large portion that’s perfect for sharing (or not!). It had that traditional touch that’s hard to come by.

I love coming to this place. Even though the portion sizes are comparatively smaller, the taste and service more than make up for it. They have a huge menu and I’ve not had a bad meal here. Chicken 555, malai kofta, chicken special fried biryani, gobi manchurian were really good!
