Wha Da Pho: A Vietnamese Culinary Gem in San Francisco
Reviews
Pho broth was ok, Bun Bo Hue broth could’ve been better. Portions were huge though. The dumplings and spring rolls were surprisingly delicious.
The operations are a mess. Their Google hours are wrong, their own website hours are wrong, and delivery apps constantly show them as “open” when they’re fully closed. I’ve now had multiple orders accepted, waited 45–60 minutes, and then had them canceled because… surprise! They weren’t actually open. At that point, every other restaurant is closed too. It’s maddening.
I’ve also gotten calls about out-of-stock items where the person on the phone didn’t speak English, so we literally couldn’t communicate. Not judging anyone for language, but when your hours are already unreliable, that extra layer of chaos does not help.
This place has incredible food, but the basic operations are so unreliable it’s almost impossible to be a returning customer. People want to give you money — you’re making it needlessly hard.
Please fix your hours and your order process. You’re going to lose loyal customers over issues that are 100% preventable.
I dropped into What Da Pho on a quiet Friday mid-afternoon for a pho (10/10/2025). I was the only customer. For this time of day the restaurant offers a discount; Half price. That’s a good deal. Except, when it came to paying for my discount pho.
The discounted price appeared on the display and it was then changed by the server to the full price.
I enquired why it changed to the full price and the sever told me the the discount price was a mistake.
I had the sense forethought to take a screenshot of the discount offered at the time I placed my order and showed it to the server. The server, knowing that he’d been caught lying, glumly corrected the total without offering an apology.
My guess is that that the server thought a tourist wouldn’t question his deception. To the server: think about the choices you make in life. Best of luck.
For everybody else: Beware.
There is no way I will ever pay $26 for a bowl of pho, you’re not even using organic ingredients or grass fed beef or free range chicken.
