Unfortunately, we did have a bad experience with the reservation system. We had a party of 5 and reserved ahead of time on Yelp. Upon arriving with the notification that our table was ready, the host asked us to wait an additional 15 minutes for a table that could accommodate for 5 people, as the large tables were occupied. The 15 minutes turned into 25 minutes before we were brought over to a table that hadn’t been set up with plates or side dishes yet. Our 5th party member had to sit on the side of the table as it was a 4 person table.
We came for the lunch special ($21.99), and honestly… not worth it.
The beef belly had way too much sauce — it tasted like straight fat and sugar. The people I was with liked it, but it wasn’t for me. I ordered brisket, and it came out in thick, stacked chunks that were basically frozen together. I had to wait for it to break down and peel the layers apart before cooking. Easily one of the worst briskets I’ve had.
Overall, the meat quality was bad and everything was bland. Even the prime steak made my friend’s stomach hurt, and we cooked it thoroughly just to be sure.
Sides didn’t save it either:
Japchae had a little flavor at first, but once you ate anything else, it tasted like nothing.
Kimchi fried rice was very bland — some weird drizzle on top that didn’t help.
Korean sweet pancakes at the end were good.
The little mango dessert with sauce was just okay.
This place feels like it focuses more on having lots of options rather than good-quality meat. It’s probably fine for people who want to eat everything except Korean BBQ and don’t really care about flavor.
But for me?
Not even worth the lunch special, and I wouldn’t come back.
if you like to get scammed, this is the place to be!
Let’s start by upselling you on the premium meats,
They say they have everything on the menu but when it comes down to ordering those
“premium meats”
they’re out of it or don’t have this or that etc etc.
so what was the point on upgrading??
I’ve had their wagyu before at many many
other locations. (perks of being a truck driver)
The Wagyu beef was pretty much brisket at this location and the beef tongue is no longer on the menu????? ???????? ?????? ????????
So you’re paying an extra 30$$$ for two meats! Since 3 of those other meats are a 1 time per. person….
My waitress Olivia also upsold me thinking it was also just a 20$ upgrade but in reality when I got the check.
It’s DINNER PRICE +$20
which equals=$50 plus tax $55
Then they said they had a promotion on beer pitchers and that was a lie, ended up being $80 … lol
Lunch break became a Ruth Chris Steak dinner.
Unbelievable!
Manager was also in on it and coordinated the whole thing, conveniently sends Olivia on break as I was about to pay.
As they giggle like high school kids behind the counter.
This location has lost my business for good.

From the moment we were seated, the experience spiraled downward. The utensils were filthy, the wall next to our table was visibly dirty, and it took an unreasonable amount of time for our server to even acknowledge us. When our grill shut down and began emitting a strong gas odor, we raised the concern immediately. Instead of handling the situation with urgency and professionalism, the manager on duty Raul, who admitted he was from a different location—simply said he would “get our server.”
When I asked Raul about the poor service, I was shocked by his lack of accountability and his unapologetic attitude. Rather than trying to resolve the issue or show even a hint of concern, he became defensive and confrontational. It was clear he was more focused on protecting his pride than addressing our legitimate complaints. Now I understand why this location is struggling.
I sincerely hope David Kim and the executive leadership at Gen Korean BBQ read this, as I intend to share this experience with corporate and across multiple platforms. A brand is only as strong as its weakest location, and Westminster is in desperate need of attention. Cleanliness, service, and basic hospitality should never be optional, especially when other locations are setting a much higher standard. Raul should be fired!
Ideal to have a good eating time with anyone. Wait time to enter was 40 min in a sunday afternoon. The menu is online, so you can research the meats before you come here. Price is $29 per person, which it is something for a restaurant, but we think the cooking and eating experience is worth it. Something extra we appreciate is that the water tastes good! Is not the typical high-school water taste that you’ll get in most restaurants. You will always be busy since you will be cooking the raw meat they provide while having nice conversations with your friends! The service was good! Sometimes, they can take their time, but it is due to low staff. Meat was fresh, too! Our favorite was the 1. The sirloin. And if you are a big lover of spicy food, try the volcano chicken! A spice that will make you want more! Watch out walking here. For some rare reason, the FLOOR is quite slippery. Parking is quite limited, and people will get aggressive for the best spot. They sell Sapporo as their alcoholic beverage. We recommend it! The BIGGEST downside (elephant in the room) is the limited 90 minutes. If you come with a huge family, it will be tricky to cook plenty of food for everyone, quite frustrating and unfair. We recommend only 3 people per grill. It’s worth the visit, though. Expect to spend 2 hours minimum inside the restaurant.
