The Elbow Room and Tap Room is one of West Hartford’s oldest restaurants, first opening its doors in 1997. We have since prided ourself on serving upscale comfort food, including the famous ER Mac n Cheese. Known for out lively rooftop patio and comedy club, Elbow Room boasts 50 rotating draft beers, great wine selection, and all of the great comfort classics. Old Man Clutch
I really like this place. My dish was excellent, shrimp thick and juicy and the veggies fresh. Staff was extremely pleasant and I love the atmosphere. It was a rainy Sunday afternoon so I didn’t check out the rooftop space but I will. The whole area is wonderful but this spot right at an intersection stands out. Seems like a great place for friends and family. Can’t wait to return.

If you care about cocktails you should find a different place. Do you have a sexy date? Go to Max’s Seafood so you can receive proper attention and care.

The blonde bartender is sooooo rude and unprofessional, my order was taken By another bartender who is super sweet however I asked her to close out my tab and never received my card so I was waiting for about 20 minutes at the bar and then tried to ask her and the blonde lady interrupted and said we’re gonna need to pause and ripped her away from me then making me wait another 15 minutes to get someone’s attention and the blonde one approached me and with a nasty tone told me to relax I’m going to get my drink, which wasn’t even what I was waiting on if she had given me the time to speak. She then also stuck her hand in the face of my friend, who was also politely asking her question. I get it can be stressful and busy there, but I’ve never been talk to you like that by a bartender definitely makes me not wanna go back especially with the price of the drinks. We didn’t even end up getting a receipt just the card back.

Bartender was extremely rude! She was a blonde haired middle aged women about 5 1/2 feet tall. I’m standing at the bar patiently waiting for service. She doesn’t even acknowledge me or the other customers around me so I waved at her to try to get her attention. Not that I was demanding her to serve me ASAP, I just wanted some acknowledgment. She eventually served me a mixed drink and I asked her to close my tab and she refused and she didn’t want to give me my credit card back. I walked away from the bar and a few minutes later she tracked me down and told me that she completely voided the transaction from my credit card and demanded the mixed drink back. I never had an experience like this at a bar before. She was extremely rude and I am not going back to the Elbow Room to enjoy a night out.

We stopped by this bar to do something wild and outrageous: ask a simple question about whether the comedy show still had seats. What a mistake. The posters on the door are showing outdated information. From the moment we walked in, the front desk couldn’t hear us (maybe selective hearing is part of the ambiance?) and simply told us to “find the guy with the hat,” which felt like the beginning of a scavenger hunt nobody asked to join.
As we wandered around on this magical quest, another staff member immediately told us to leave because we were holding an ice cream. Not eating it. Not smearing it on the walls. Just holding it. Truly a dangerous act.
We eventually located the mythical Hat Guy, who told us he’d meet us outside. So we held the door for him for a solid two minutes like unpaid doormen… but plot twist: he never came out. Maybe he teleported? Maybe he forgot? Maybe it was part of the comedy show? Who knows.
In the end, we were left confused, ice cream in hand, with absolutely no answers, except one: customer service is definitely not their headliner.

went there for the night life, courtney was horrible but jason took care of me, courtney yelled at me for asking for extra juice in a drink that i already paid and even tipped her for. james took care of me with ease and without causing a scene and cursing me out. scrolled through the reviews and noticed she is mentioned for being rude numerous times in the low rating reviews. fire her!

I have been to the Elbow Room many times over the years and I find it to be consistently good. It’s hard to maintain consistent quality and they have pulled it off. I like to sit outside in front and people watch while having dinner. They make an excellent cheeseburger and their prices are fair. The atmosphere is casual but you wouldn’t feel out of place if you were dressed up. I’ll be back.

Came for my wife’s birthday dinner on a Sunday night. No host to seat us, fries and rings were cold, food was terrible. The one and only server was the bright spot in the place. She was very friendly. Other than that, I wont be coming back.
