Stopped here last week for a late lunch and was very pleasantly surprised! Very cool (and clean) atmosphere! I had slaw, baked beans, and pulled pork (always my first order when trying a new bbq place) and it was very good.
The pork was very tasty and their NC vinegar sauce went well with it. The slaw and beans were very tasty too. Right off the highway if you’re ever in the area and looking for a good place to stop!

Nicest folks running this place. Our server was support pleasant and attentive. She gave suggestions and offered alternatives on and off the menu. The food was delivered quickly and was well prepared and hot. We got a ton of food for the money. I didn’t love the brisket, but everything else was great.

We had a really wonderful lunch here. Because I don’t eat beef and rarely have pork, I am often unsure if a BBQ place is for me. But I was so impressed with the chicken platter. The meat was juicy and well-seasoned. They also nailed the coleslaw and mac&cheese. Service was also really great. Only small downside is it was really hot inside but not enough to deter us. If we head back that way we’ll stop in again!

Where do I start, this restaurant is an absolute gem and I see why it’s a staple for Madison, VA.
The atmosphere is very welcoming, so go ahead and pick your table, have a seat and someone will be with you quickly.
The menu has quite a selection of delicious meats that are smoked in house. Be sure to ask about steaks, as they vary daily. The sides are SO delicious, it’s hard to choose 2 from the list.
The staff are excellent at providing you exceptional service from the word “hello” til you say “check please”
Definitely a restaurant I will always refer and return to in the future.

$40 for ribs, a scoop of shredded pork, beans, coleslaw, two buns from a package, and an appetizer of onion rings. Enough for my girlfriend and I.
The onion rings were fresh and hot.

Stopped in here to get lunch, and I was not disappointed! From the service to the food and all in between, it was really great! I walked in and I shortly had my order placed, it didn’t take too long and I had my meal. That’s when it got good! That brisket was absolutely delicious! Actually everything was great! The hot BBQ sauce had a really good flavor. I believe the baked beans had some pieces of jalapeno in it which actually made the flavor delectable. I would definitely consider stopping in again if I was close by! Thanks guys!

There were 3 of us in our party for lunch. All of us had the steak sandwich. All
of us agreed that the steak sandwich was delicious. Came with grilled onions, tomato, lettuce and mayo. Also cheese, but you can only get American cheese , so 2 of us ordered without cheese.

We stopped in here on the way home from looking at the leaves along Skyline Drive. I had the ribs and my girl had the pulled pork. The sides were wonderful, with the baked beans being tangy with a little bit of spice. I found the ribs to be a bit dry and over cooked, but the pulled pork was delicious. The rolls were very soft and pillowy. We will keep the Pig and Steak on our radar foe when we are passing through again in the future.

Pig N’ Steak is a Madison County treasurer. Practically unchanged for years it still holds the old charm. Some might say its outdated and dark but thats how its always been. The menu is mostly unchanged and they always have streaks off menu, just ask. Food is pretty good. BBQ is great and their Mountaineer Burger is my personal favorite. Big hearty portions with nice kind wait staff. Normally service is fast for both dine-in and carry out. Prices are a tab bit high. They also offer a food truck that goes to community events such as “Taste of the Mountains” hosted every fall on Main Street in Madison Co. Nice place to stop for a quick meal.
