If you are looking for a fine dining experience with class, elegance, Devine food, and European atmosphere look no further. Everything is exceptional from ambiance, to wine, cuisine, and the knowledge of their servers. Some of my favorites over the years: Gorgonzola Fiocchetti, mushroom gnocchi, Focaccia, and the panna cotta. They also usually have specials that are fantastic.

Beautifully decorated with a very cozy ambiance in The Commons, I visited in June ‘25 and thoroughly enjoyed myself. The food was incredibly tasty, only to be outdone by the fantastic service. Although the price point is a little high for me to be a regular visitor, I’d love to come back and try other dishes in the future. Th owner even came out to personally check on our experience and chat with us before my group left, which I really appreciate.

An excellent experience all around. The atmosphere inside was lovely, our server was very knowledgeable about the wines and helpful in answering all our questions about the menu. The food was incredible. We ordered a couple apps and the lamb chops and fettuccine with braised baby back ribs ragu. Would definitely recommend! The tiramisu dessert was the cherry on top – was light, delicious, and a perfect end to our meal.

Highly recommend on many levels. I have eaten here multiple times over the years it is my favorite restaurant in Traverse City. This time I was there with a friend who is from Italy. She loved every dish and said it is the only authentic Italian food she has ever eaten in the US. Staff were very warm and food was amazing as always. We absolutely loved our server Noah. Atmosphere and timing of courses was very conducive to an enjoyable evening out with friends.

My husband and I recently hosted our reception dinner at PepeNero after our elopement / micro-wedding and could not have had a more wonderful experience. Monica was a pleasure to work with ahead of time and when we arrived the private dining room was stunning. We did the five course tasting and the food was phenomenal. Everyone left stuffed and our guests cannot stop raving about each dish, the wine, and the incredible service. The team let us bring our own wedding cake and helped cut, serve, and even take home extras. It was the most perfect wedding dinner and we can’t wait to dine again, especially for our anniversary ♥️

Excellent service and food! We dined here for our anniversary and everything was wonderful. We made reservations and got seated on time. Our server was incredible, our glasses never got empty. Any questions we had regarding the menu were answered in a helpful and insightful manner and we were blessed with delicious food at every course. The desert was the highlight of my night, and we were told they are delicately made by the chefs wife, and it showed! It was a work of art and tasted equally as impressive.
At one point my napkin slipped off my lap and one of the employees noticed and brought me a new one too. Overall it was incredible experience.

My husband and I had dinner at PepeNero for the first time on Valentine’s Day, we were celebrating our first Valentine’s Day married and having our offer accepted on our first home.. it was a big night for us. This restaurant had been recommended several times to us by close friends, but I could not believe the way we were treated while we were there. The menu was extremely difficult to understand and the way our server spoke almost made it more confusing. That was fine and a part of the fine dining experience I guess. When handed our bill we were happy and almost didn’t review the bill before paying, but decided to glance. Upon review I noticed I was charged $16.00 for a bowl of soup and $18.00 for a salad. We politely asked our server about it and said he would need to get the manager to speak to us about it. We expressed to the manager that we did not order the soup/salad, we were asked when we ordered our entree “would you like a soup or a salad?”, this statement is the same question asked to you at Olive Garden and the food comes with your meal. My husband and I definitely would not have ordered a soup or salad, but felt like we were losing out on a portion of what we were paying for by not accepting the offer. So we each chose either a soup or a salad. The manager proceeded to explain to us that we read the menu and that we ate the food and he would not be accommodating us as we should of known. I reiterated the concern/ confusion we were having and he doubled down. I suggested to him that they train their staff to ask, “would you like to ADD a soup or salad to start?”, but he again refused to understand or help us. The only solution he offered was to give us a free desert after we already politely declined as nothing was strikingly interesting and we were extremely disappointed in their level of disrespect at this time. In the end we decided to not leave a tip for the server (which we have NEVER DONE and always find great joy in tipping well as we did this line of work while in college) in hopes the restaurant would pay him.
The food was good, but we paid $40 for three raviolis. Don’t show up hungry. I’d go to Stella’s over PepeNero any day.

Absolutely incredible experience from start to finish. This upscale Italian restaurant delivers not only amazing food, but truly outstanding service. Every dish was perfectly portioned, beautifully presented, and bursting with rich, authentic flavor. You can really taste the quality in every bite.
What stood out even more was the service—our server and the manager were both incredibly knowledgeable, attentive without being overbearing, and made us feel genuinely taken care of. They knew the menu inside and out and offered thoughtful recommendations that hit the mark.
