Reviews
The restaurant captures the spirit of 1950’s America better than any other. It is a well decorated restaurant that has all sorts of 50’s memorabilia. They have actually do have a carhop here, but you can still order in other ways as well including a drive thru, food delivery service, pickup, or dining in.
The service here is excellent and quick. Plenty of parking spots are available. There is even a playground in the back for kids. This place is a little bit of something for everyone! Stop by and give it a try.
PROS:
– Playground on site
– Healthy options on the menu
– Great atmosphere, covered area to order and watch the rain!
– Plenty of tables to enjoy
– Large menu
– Ice cream is still under $4 a person at this joint! So happy for this (refuse to attend ice cream locations where they’re $6.50 for a small)
– Carhop service on site!
– Order online (Delivery & Pickup!) we live 10 miles away in Wilton, and it took my address. Just remember to tip your delivery driver
– just 20 min from Saratoga race track, come and get your yummy on after a long day or fun!
CONS:
– standard beverages are a bit pricey
Our meal last evening was delicious and what I loved was that the owner was working with their team taking orders, cleaning tables, making sure their guests are taken care of.
We enjoyed the grilled chicken wrap, messy fingers, grilled cheese, tater tots and curly fries with 3 drinks – for 3 meals, the food came up to $38 and the beverages were right around $10. They do have kids meals, but our son doesn’t eat the food selections for the complimentary drink and fries.
Portions were good! It was around 4 oz of grilled chicken, which was perfect! 26g of protein give or take – added bacon it was super delicious. The kitchen can toss the grilled chicken in any sauce and they grill the wrap as well to seal in that juicy flavor.
Our son’s grilled cheese was perfect! It was perfectly golden brown and melted with no mess.
Our fries and taters came out perfectly fried with nothing undercooked or overcooked – they were made fresh.
Our order came out in less than 5 minutes – just enough time to settle in at a table.
We’ve been here a few times this year so far. Hands down, we love the playground! Many restaurants in the area don’t have a playground for the kiddos unless it’s McDonald’s. I do wish there were more than two tables at the playground, but I think that when it’s really busy they need the additional parking – one thing to consider would be roping off two parking spots and placing two more tables.
All in all! Fantastic experience! Thank you Beatrice and your team for being so welcoming to your guests and making this a 5 star experience!!
We will be back to watch the rain with y’all under your beautiful awning!!
TIPS & TRICKS!
– ketchup and mustard are in the Frigidaire cooler on the side
– parking is on both sides and in the back
They absolutely nail the feel, music, style ect of an old carhop but my last few trips there last season and now my first of this season from a food a service perspective were not good.
When I arrived no one came to any of the 4 windows to help even though there were 3 ladies working in the back, no line of customers and took over 5 minutes. When I finally approached one of the windows to get attention, she rudely ushered me to another. The have no menu on the outside to read which makes no sense. There were two girls dressed in normal clothing, neither were overly friendly to say the least. The girl that was dressed like a 50’s waitress eventually gave me my food, she was very nice and helpful. Bright spot of the trip.
Ordered a small soft vanilla with sprinkles and 2 double cheeseburgers to go. Bill was just short of $24. Ice cream was good, didn’t open burgers until I got home……overcooked, greasy, 1 not full slice of cheese. Pretty much inedible. Not sure the ~$9 a burger I paid was a bad price but it was a bad product for sure. See below.
Place has a lovely atmosphere but if your service and food are not good, it doesn’t matter. Use to be a great place to stop. I won’t in the future after a few mediocre experiences.
New owners have really nailed it with the bright clean covered eating area and happy smiling people serving.
