Long time authentic Greek restaurant with old charm and delicious food! This is such a nice spot to get authentic Greek and right next to the cultural district. I have ate here a couple times and the food is always delicious. The owner/head chef Cristos greets you, takes your order and loves to tell stories and answer questions. He was once a personal chef to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. If you’re looking for great food and a charming atmosphere with character this is the place!

TL;DR: Christos is the real deal. Lively atmosphere, incredible homemade Greek food, and an owner who treats everyone like family.
Christos: A Pittsburgh Classic That Still Has It
Christos has been around for 40 years, and after eating there, it’s easy to see why. The place is full of life with people laughing, plates breaking, and shouts of “Opa!” filling the air. The owner was everywhere at once, making sure everyone was happy and taken care of, which honestly set the tone for the whole meal.
I started with the cold sampler platter for one, and it was perfect for getting a little taste of everything: creamy hummus, fresh tzatziki, tabbouleh, taramosalata, and a stuffed grape leaf that actually had flavor. The chicken kabobs came with an incredible avgolemono, traditional Greek salad (try it with anchovies), rice, and veggies, some we’re simple but all was done really well. The chicken was juicy, the potatoes were beautifully seasoned, and the soup was homemade in a way that warmed the soul.
And the cake. Seriously, don’t skip the cake.
It’s rare to find a restaurant that still feels this personal after four decades. Christos isn’t trying too hard or chasing trends; it’s just good food, good people, and that warm, slightly chaotic Greek energy that makes you want to stay a while.

Family owned, sweet people, very passionate about their heritage foods and background. The wine and dessert were good. These were some items I sampled during a food tour.

This meal made me want to move to Pittsburgh! Our waiter was none other than Christos himself. He was working 6 tables and had no trouble providing top notch service. He has been working there for 50 years and before that was the chef to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Some of the food he makes today were recipes he perfected with her. The wine was made by his 108 year old father. If they can live this long….the good must be the best! The memory of meeting Christos and eating his food will be something I keep with me forever.

Great authentic Greek restaurant in a vibrant downtown street, the theater district, with a very cosy ambience. The service was homely and the food was delicious. Loved how they offered personal family recipes like the lemon potatoes. It’s great for vegetarians.

Stopped by before a CLO show. We had the house red wine which was delicious. Taramasalata was the creamy kind, without whole tarama eggs. I had the Shrimp Santorini. Diabetics should be aware that the two Santorini dishes come with rice pilaf. I enjoyed the baba ganoush for my dessert. My wife had the Jackie O dessert and really enjoyed it.

We almost walked past it, but we didn’t, and I’m so glad that we didn’t!
The food was authentic, homemade, and tasted ! The service was just as good! The little old man (owner?) was so good at his job and giving us the description and what to expect on everything we ordered. And made sure we got a piece of cake at the end, yum!! And, to top it off, the prices were very reasonable!
Best hummus, grape leaves (a little spicy), and tabouleh!!
Enjoy! Opaaa!!
