Tucked in the historic Freemason district in downtown Norfolk, Omar’s Carriage House specializes in seasonal fare including a range of steaks and seafood. Mondays include a Moroccan menu available a la carte or as a three-course meal. Sunday brunch includes amazing cocktail specials and delicious options from eggs benedicts to waffles to burgers. Our upstairs private dining room seats up to 45 guests perfect for rehearsal dinners, baby showers, and corporate events.

Very impressed by the quality of food and quantity. Typically portion sizes for me in America are way too big and I can’t finish them. Here the portions were just right and I was able to try all appetizers and entries I wanted. The food itself had lots of thought and care put into it. Not only did a taste amazing you could tell it was high quality as well. For 4 appetizers, 2 entries and 2 desserts, We payed 140$. which is reasonable for the amount we ordered (including a daily special). Location was also cute and we were able to walk to the water afterwards. would highly recommend this place especially the duck tacos!!!!

Very quaint restaurant on cobblestone streets with phenomenal attention to detail, Customer Service, presentation and flavor. Even the cocktails are absolutely spectacular. You will leave feeling like the value you paid was absolutely worth it.

Ambiance and service definitely 5 stars. The server Brayden was super friendly and attentive. When you enter the restaurant it’s packed with delicious waft of food flowing from the kitchen and dining area packed with patrons on a Friday night. The menu has a good variety of choices from different proteins (lamb, steak, chicken, scallops, salmon, etc) to grains (couscous, risotto,etc). I ordered the lamb shank. While it has a lot of different spices, it lacked that basic pinch of salt. The portion was huge but it had way too much of the couscous. Thd strawberry (short)cake was typical so not worth the price.

Fantastic bartender Morgan, is sweet knowledgeable and overall amazing. Menu looks beautiful and restaurant ambiance and decor is rustic and lovely. Owner is onsite to make sure everything is to par. My concerns include hard salty butter for the table bread, butter does not need to be cooled. Secondly the octopus is soggy, it should be charred and carefully placed upon the accoutrements. Otherwise great drinks and menu cant wait to be back!

We came for the first time for brunch and we will be back. The food was amazing and so fresh. I got the eggs Benedict and it was very tasty. The fruit was fresh and the arugula dressing was simple and delicious. Our server, Morgan, was so welcoming and friendly. Seeing her interact with her other tables was also so nice. We absolutely will be back to try dinner as well. Also the best coffee cake I have ever had!

Jon was fantastic—he crafted a perfectly balanced Old Fashioned and also made a refreshing berry mojito mocktail that really hit the spot.
I visited during Restaurant Week and was genuinely impressed by the experience.
To start, I sampled the shrimp sriracha dish. While it only came with three shrimp, the flavor was excellent and the fresh watermelon added a nice touch. I also tried the fried green tomatoes, which were beautifully paired with a well-executed balsamic reduction and crisp arugula.
For the main courses, the chili crisp shrimp noodles stood out with a satisfying level of spice—not overwhelming, but enough to make an impression. The hanger steak and frites were cooked well and full of flavor. As for dessert, the key lime pie was light, fresh, and elegantly plated—but the real standout was the strawberry shortcake, which stole the show.
Overall, a delightful experience with thoughtful flavors and great service.

Celebrated our son’s Birthday at Omar’s Carriage House on Sunday for an amazing Brunch! Our table was upstairs which is a very pretty area. Our Server did a great job constantly going up and downstairs! The food was delicious and still hot and amazing! I had the Vegetable Omelet. Others enjoyed the Chicken and Waffles, Eggs Benedict, and the Turkey Croissant. Service was great, food was delicious and it was wonderful to be together in such a nice place! So quaint and had a great welcoming atmosphere. We will definitely be back soon.

Came here tonight for valentines day and everything was amazing. Specifically wanted to give recognition to our waitress who we had last time when we came here about a year ago. I cant remember her name but she has the split half blonde half brown hair! Her timing is impeccable. Watched her work 5 tables tonight and do it flawlessly. Both times we have had her she blew us away. Just wanted to show her some appreciation because shes great at her job

Stopped in Omar’s on a Sunday 9/29 around 11am. It was surprisingly slow paced for the time of day. We were the only customers inside the dining room (other patrons were on the patio).
Our waitress was friendly and answered all of our questions. Unfortunately, during the meal we were able to overhear staff carry on personal conversations which was not ideal (bordering unprofessional behavior with customers around).
I ordered chicken & waffles, my boyfriend ordered a hot chicken sandwich (can’t recall the actual menu name for it) and we also shared an order of strawberry donuts. Everything was really good and came out in a timely manner. I wish we had tried this place on a busier morning to really tell the difference in service and quality.
Atmosphere is a 3 ⭐️ due to the decor being kind of dated & the staffs lack of discretion during our experience.
