This is the exception to the other Japanese/Italian pasta places serving “fusion” dishes that underwhelm and are not distinctive. I’m so happy I didn’t give up or I would never have found this place and I have the other Yelp reviewers to thank.

I wish I had taken photos but I literally could not come up for air as my mouth refused to let me stop eating the Michelin worthy bolognese ramen-like pasta with tender gourmet wagyu meatballs. We also got the chicken katsu appetizer based on the reviews and so glad we did. I’m not a chicken fan but I could eat this all day long. I’ll have to try the chicken or wagyu katsu curry or the alfredo pasta next time!

I don’t know how else to describe it other than the umami-rich dishes effortlessly delight my tastebuds and I appreciate the obvious care that went into respecting the integrity of each cuisine vs creating a mashed-up manufactured “fusion” dish.

As delightful as the food is Sarah, the humble owner/chef who treats you like you are a guest in her home. While this place is more of a take-out place, there is one large round table ( an Asian communal table if you will) and we were able to meet and enjoy the company of a MB local who was on his 6th visit! Both of us were encouraged to tuck-in a napkin to prevent slurping mishaps. 🙂

Wagyu Pasta will be a place my husband and I will visit regularly but if it were closer we would undoubtedly dine here weekly. As often as I complain and hear others complain about the price/value dynamic of eating out today, you will not be disappointed here. It’s clear Sarah wants to welcome you back often.

Other things to note:
– be prepared for the food to be served as my Chinese mom says it should – temperature HOT
– only if you can’t make it here in person, Smashed Wagyu is available via Uber Eats and Door Dash
– Location: at South corner of Rosecrans and Crest (1 street up from Highland – next door to El Tarasco)
– Parking: street or parking structure across the street

I’m going to be presumptive and say “you’re welcome” now.

Cool place. It’s not a new genre of Italian Japanese food but hard to find. It’s a nice experience if you don’t like to interact too much with anyone and have a reasonably priced meal.

The rich brown sauce with wagyu meatballs is perfect! I’m so happy this little gem is on my way home from work. I will definitely be coming back for delicious take-out and support this new small business. Sarah is a sweetheart and welcomed me in right away

Really cute new hole in the wall place in Porto! The owners were super sweet and attentive. I got the brown wagyu penne and it was such a unique flavor! Super tasty, meat was very high quality. Will definitely be back to try some of the new flavors.

This was my favorite meal of my trip, maybe my favorite this whole year. I wasn’t sure about the Italian and Japanese fusion idea, but the meatballs, sauce/soup, and noodles were all tasty. Super glad I decided to stop in.

Eat here. Do it and thank me later. The owner/chef was so lovely – I called over about a food allergy and she texted me a follow up. That level of thoughtfulness is nearly unheard of in food service these days. As the other reviews state the food is phenomenal, served HOT, and is inventive, thoughtfully prepared, and comforting.

Cozy hole in the wall spot serving delicious, unique Japanese-fusion pasta dishes. The consistency felt like “pasta meets ramen” with a thinner sauce than a traditional Italian- it was incredibly flavorful. The meatballs were also perfectly cooked to a medium rare finish. The owner was so sweet and the dining area was a small, circular, shared table which felt extra comforting on a cold day. We will definitely be coming back!

So good!

Ordered the red, brown, and Alfredo pasta dishes. Noodles were great, sauce was better, meatballs the best. Portions were a good size so none of that, “I spent all this money and I’m still hungry”.

Service was beyond polite. It’s a great place to come get fed and be treated with kindness.
