We were on our way to another restaurant when I’d said I’d never been to the Lighthouse and we decided to try it on a whim. It was quite a disappointment, besides the company of being together.
The service informed us when we arrived that the kitchen was running behind and it would be about a 20 minute wait. The restaurant itself had nice old wooden beams, but overall looks outdated and in need of a renovation.
We started with the salad bar since that was the only thing that was available, but it surprisingly wasn’t included in the entree. The salad bar was very minimal for its not included price.
For the meal, the chicken and biscuits looked more like a soup. It was not pleasing in any way. The French onion soup I ordered didn’t have the normal flavor and the cheese wasn’t tasty either.
And then the drink. I ordered and old fashioned, but it was so strong. I asked for a little more sugar and bitter ms and it was back a minute later and simply tasted watered down.
While the outside of the restaurant looks inviting and elegant with the lighthouse and the lights, now we know that the inside needs more work in more than one regard.

My husband and I were there tonight for my birthday dinner. The food was absolutely delicious. But this staff went above and beyond. Lesee was our waitress she was wonderful. God bless her she is a veteran. Thank you for your service. The chef came out and introduced himself very pleasant and making us want to return. The topping on the evening was a gentleman who took a phonecall from someone who asked if we were there this man took a chance walked up to me asking if it was me. It turned out he was a friend from ct that wanted to pay for our dinner. He, then proceeded to visit and talk with us. This was a wonderful experience thank you lighhouse. I will not forget this birthday.

Ive been wanting to try this place out and today we did. Went right in as soon as they opened at 11:30am. Ordered the calamari for appetizers and it was really good and good size serving. The sauce for the calamari was just crazy good! We ordered the Maple Jerk Chicken Sandwich for our main meal. The chicken was nice and crispy and buns were fresh. Maple sauce was really good! I wish I could ordered it on the side (maybe next time!). Our server was good, I did not get her name but she was good and attentive. Maybe name tags for the servers would be good. Overall good atmosphere with good music. Plenty of dining area. Table & chairs, booths, high tables and bar. Couple of tv’s by the bar where we were seated. Restrooms were clean. We would definitely comeback.

Very friendly staff and delicious burgers! Only reason for four stars is that the wait was a bit long. Good cocktails too

I was staying at the Hampton Inn for an event, and I came here for a cocktail and some dinner. The bar was nice and the bartender was quick to take our drink orders. Very pleasant. We had a drink and went over to the restaurant to get some food. The waiter was excellent, the food was very good, and we had a great time.

This is my favorite restaurant in Vermont! The crispy Brussels are the best here! Recently tried the Vermont Mule and it is excellent! We had several meals here on our recent trip and we are never disappointed. Although, they did lose our reservation for my birthday dinner, they were able to seat us anyway. I do recommend reservations for dinner.

The service was excellent, our server was bubbly and informative. Jillian was amazing! The food however…. if I could give no stars i would, as a chef myself I would be appalled to serve the food that was present to me. The clam chowder tasted as if it was from a can and discolored, the seafood Norfolk was soggy and the flavor was over seasoned, as was most of the food over seasoned and just plain awful. I ordered a ribeye steak cooked medium it came out raw as if barley cooked with a gelatinous Grey gravy on it… please whoever is cooking quit your day job …. worst food experience I’ve ever had

I was leary with the 3.9 stars, the only reason i ate here was the salad bar and walking proximity to the hotel.
The salad bar was great and we’ll stocked.
The boneless wings were three massive chicken fingers. The cheese fritters were unique.
Not sure why everything was served on wilty pre shredded lettuce that needed to be scraped off of everything prior to eating.
The service was slow and no one really seemed responsive or if they wanted to be there.
Extremely overpriced for the quality of food.

Food was tasty, rice was delicious, the sea food also tasty, however the fish/shrimp/scallop was soaked in melted butter/oil and the vegetables portion was too small, I wish there was no empty spot on the plate
The waitress was very polite and kind, the atmosphere was dark and empty

The Lighthouse Restaurant and Lounge is a hidden gem in the Burlington area. It’s stately appearance gives off a lofty vibe but once you get in the door, the host and hostess are there to make things happen for you. I like a restaurant that has a dedicated bar, by that I mean the bar is sectioned off you know the kind where people belly up and let the liquor do a little bit of the talking. It’s so much better than those restaurants that build the dining area around the bar, Olive Garden seems to do that.
Anyway my wife and I visited recently, more than once and I made way for the bar and she gave a pull on my arm to remind me that we were dining there. She had fish and chips and Boy Howdy were those New England fish served up right. Kinda crispy and then the meaty tenderness of a light tasting fish.
I had the Duck Wing! Great selection! The Duck Wing came lightly covered on an Orange sauce – there were lots of interesting taste in that plate. Some “slide dancing” on the palate of my tongue if you will, complimented by a great mouth-feel and then maybe a peripheral aftertaste that sent a message to my fork hand to shovel another load into my mouth.
I was glad to order what I did. My wife was glad to order what she did. So enthralled was I with the party going on in my mouth that I forgot the Lighthouse had a bar.
Vermont friendliness was also a staple of our visits- I’m a devout Rock and Roller and the host picked up on that – he regaled me with a few concerts he’d been to and really made us feel welcome.
The Lighthouse is a beacon on Vermont dining. Don’t miss the chance to drop by.
