We move to Winchester, TN from HI just over a year ago. We have lived in 3 states in just a few years and travelled and eaten all over the country. We stopped in Paw Paws for lunch our first week living in TN with my kids and mother and had the catfish; absolutely delicious! We were impressed by the kindness, desire to meet our food tastes, and customer service. The atmosphere was comfortable with old-style family farm tables; reminded me of sweet family memories from long ago. The owner Mr. Terry and his wife talked and checked with us, our boys still remember them from that day. We have been back multiple times for the best handmade burgers, and RIBEYE steak early Friday night. GO GET a RIBEYE FRIDAY! Since our first week living in TN, Mr. Terry has been a part of our lives; he’s also an MMA instructor in town and invited our then 5 year old to join; which we did (ask him about youth MMA all welcome). Mr. Terry is a stand up guy and has a great team with his wife and daughter. YAS, eat at Paw Paws cafe!

Such good lunch! I had the fried pork chop with mashed potatoes, fried okra and green beans— I was so impressed. This food tasted just like everything I grew up with and make but I didn’t have to make it! Definitely try this place out.

Drive by all the time, headed to another destination, without time to stop. Purposely come for lunch and was glad I did. I had their meat and 2. I chose Meatloaf, okra, mashed potatoes. It was all great! I will definitely be able to try out some regular menu items.

This afternoon I brought my grandmother to try out Paw Paw’s because she had never been. When I parked in the closest available parking spot to the door (because my grandmother has pulmonary health issues that cause her to lose her breath easily from walking short distances) I faced a dilemma. There was an orange Harley parked in the painted “no parking” area in front of the main entrance with the saddlebag open, too close to the driver-side door for me to get out, and it’s owner was nowhere to be seen. Had the saddlebag been closed, I would’ve had barely enough room to squeeze out of the car. So, my responsibilities as a grandson being what they are, I closed the saddlebag through the open car window and went about assisting my grandmother. Well it turns out that the Harley belongs to a large bully of a man who (unfortunately) seems to be the owner of Paw Paw’s. Instead of recognizing how inconsiderate it was to leave his bike where it was, he opted to play it tough by indirectly threatening me. As we were leaving the restaurant, I gave him a respectful nod but he wanted to “give me some advice”, probably because at 22 I still look much younger. He told me that “it would have been bad” had he witnessed me closing his saddlebag. Well sir, I’m a rider too, and I recognize the importance of respecting others’ property just as much as you do. Here’s some “advice” for you: I have an 88 year old woman to look after, so if you think your threats have any bearing on the decisions I made in this situation, you are sorely mistaken. As God and the 2nd amendment are my witnesses, it most certainly would have been “bad” had you decided to act on your volatile urges upon seeing someone half your size prioritizing the wellbeing of his family over your inconsiderately parked Harley. Our waitress was great and polite, and the food was just fine. The big bad boss man, on the other hand, could use some deescalation training and maybe a puppy to take care of. It would help with your lack of patience.
