Merles has been a long time favorite of mine…35 years or so. I the past year I slowed it way down on visits just because the quality went downhill in my opinion. I got my Ruben as I normally do again today and something has changed in the quality of food it is absolutely amazing or as it once was years ago the service was outstanding and of course the atmosphere is one that is not only comfortable it’s also historic I am extremely pleased with today on the carryout that I received. Thank you so much guys!!!

This was the first time my wife and I stopped here and it did not disappoint! Great spot to relax, have dinner, enjoy some drinks. Our bartender Chris was fantastic and talked about some of the history and the area. Sandwiches were delicious! A great local bar (2nd oldest in Wichita) to visit. They also have pool tables, steel tip dart boards and an outside patio. Good for groups of all sizes.

The best sandwiches I’ve ever had. I can’t believe this place has been open my entire life and I’ve never been here until yesterday. The flavor of the dressing on the pasta salad is just so perfect. You could tell everything was made from scratch, and the recipes had been perfected. I will be back to try the entire rest of the menu.

Phenomenal place off Seneca, we there looking for something different and found that they happen to have the best chefs salad in the area, cozy vibe, with a friendly staff, Chris took care of us like we were family. Update, Chris had something come up on 2/7 and Amanda took great care in keeping our whole crew stocked with drinks and other things.

This delightful neighborhood joint has been in operation for 90 years. A tiny kitchen puts out pretty darn good sandwiches. The beer is ice cold and some say the pour is very generous in the whiskey glasses. Great old time decor. Folks are loyal to Merle’s and friendly with strangers.

I love these kind of places. My wife wanted to go somewhere else, but I said let’s give it a shot, reviews on google have been a good guide. I’m glad we did. Merle’s is a bar/sandwich place, but they do it very well. I only saw one guy working the very busy room and one guy working the kitchen, but they did awesome. Food was excellent, service was exceptional. I’ll definitely go back.

So to be clear, I have lived in this area practically my whole life, and my father would go to Merle’s and I’d basically beg him to bring me a Ruben as a child all growing up.

As an adult, I can tell you that it’s just such a chill nice place and the food is literally killer. It’s simple, but what they do is done right. I think that these places need to be recognized for having the consistency over 30+ years.

Keep it up everyone, cause you’re doing it right!

I had half a Ruben and a cup of chili. Both were hands down the best I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Also the bloody Mary’s were 3 dollars and also phenomenal. Can’t wait to go back
