I’ve had a lot of mac and cheese in my life, but this was hands down the best homemade mac and cheese I’ve ever tasted, its honestly better than fancy restaurants (in my opinion of course!) The service was great and super fast, and I really loved the chill atmosphere in the morning. It’s the perfect spot if you want a relaxed vibe and some incredible comfort food.

Update: Stopped in for lunch the next day. Some of the best battered Haddock I’ve ever eaten with mashed potatoes.
Better than Grandmas.
Day before……We were disappointed to arrive at supper when online it said it was open.
Maybe next time we’re passing through.

Waited over 20 minutes for 2 drinks, our server forgot about us. The fish was bland and unseasoned. I had given Waves a second chance after my last bad experience but poor service ( waiting 30+ minutes for water, asked for another drink didn’t get one. Servers seem to avoid your table and the food hasnt improved). I love supporting local and I know locals enjoy this place.. but I leave sorely disappointed everytime. maybe I am picking the wrong days to go?

I will not be returning.

Was looking forward to trying this place. Brought my family for a nice meal. Waited for what seemed forever for the food. probably about 45 mins. When the plates came I asked the server is this normal to wait this long for food. She just replied we had a large takeout order so it took awhile. Would have been nice to have mentioned that before ordering so we could have known. Also got the “veggie sticks” with one meal instead of fries and was literally just a cut up carrot. The seafood chowder didn’t have much in it. Very ‘soupy’. Also watched one of the cooks eating while I’m assuming on break time and was eating steak with his fingers and didn’t wipe them clean or anything to touch his phone or go out back to the kitchen. Hopefully he washes them before cooking. Do not recommend.

This is my favourite restaurant on the South Shore. The food is excellent and homey, and seems closest to real Atlantic Canadian cuisine. It’s a relaxed place and the food takes a little time to come out but it’s worth it.

Decent diner food but the place is attempting to be fancy. There’s nothing wrong with being a diner.

The same new age music track looping over and over was annoying. It was like being on hold with the bank for an hour.

My meal was good but I hate places that ration the ketchup like it’s a hot commodity…

Had the lobster rolls. The Weagles bun was very good. We ordered a shareable to start but it never arrived during the hour wait for our meal. First visit, and will be the last.

The most delicious chowder soup in Nova Scotia is here! The other food was perfect as well – scallops, fish and shrimps deep fried buttered, with mash potatoes.
A huge portions! One plate could be for two people (seriously).
You could taste a local wine with that meals. Also desserts were tasty as well!
Thank you so much, chief and team of Waves! You are doing great job!

I had the clams and haddock combo, and it was fantastic. I think those were the best clams I’ve ever had. The haddock was a pretty big piece with a hard, crispy, deep fried, greasy batter. That being said, battered and deep fried fish is supposed to be greasy. The fries were a huge surprise. I don’t typically enjoy fries, these one came looking a bit pale but turned out to be perfectly, crispy cooked. They were actually the best fries I’ve ever had served in a fish n chip joint. I am here for four nights and was looking forward to trying four different restaurants, but this was so good, I’m going back to try the scallops.
Personally, I highly recommend Waves. In my fish n chip adventures, as a whole, this was the best combo I’ve ever had.

Stopped in for lunch. One item was fish and my order was Bacon mac’n’cheese. Food was amazing. Fresh and comforting. Delicious!

Prices were a little higher than I’m used to but I think that’s just a sign of the times.
