My wife and I decided to go to this location. Usually we do Draper or the SJ location on redwood. What a mistake. Absolutely the worst Cafe Rio lunch to date. What a total mess. I ordered dbl enchiladas with beef and got two rice and bean enchiladas, no beef. My wife did a shredded chicken tostada and got just a few pieces of chicken and no beans. Chips and guac were terrible. Not sure who made the chips but they were so greasy and chewy they were disgusting.

we came in tonight to pick up a mobile order, we ordered a side of grilled chicken for our daughter. When we got home to start feeding her, we found that nearly the entire order of grilled chicken was completely RAW.

The wait was a little longer than estimated but the food was on point. They did not mess up our order and we where understanding if they would have. The place was packed for dining in or pick up! They all kept their composure even when some customers lost theirs. I appreciate their hard work and this location. They will be getting our business again.

I’m a big Cafe Rio fan, but this location is not that good. Seriously, just drive to the South Jordan location. It’s not that much further away and is much better run. This location they completely skimped on the cheese and barely put any on my nachos. Then something got burnt, so the whole restaurant was filled with smoke.

Only one person working the online orders during lunch rush? An employee gave a customer who ordered online a receipt to go through the line because it’d be faster.
Operationally; this isn’t sustainable. Don’t take orders if you can’t be timely with the workload. Poor guy was running back and forth, answering the phone, and doing other duties.
Management needs to have a better staffing model for lunch rush and online orders.

This location usually is a good choice for me but today I was served cheese water when I order chips and queso. I only discovered this once I got home and thought there had been a mistake, maybe the queso needed to be stirred or something. Sadly, when I drove back to get it replaced I was informed they intentionally added water because they were low on queso.
In what word would I want a cup of cheese soup when I order queso? Just tell me you’re out of queso, don’t try to sneak liquid yellow in the order and hope I’m okay with paying full price for 1/4 the product. In a day and age of shrinkflation, this was not what I expect to get for my already stretched dollar. They did exchange it for a serving of guacamole but I shouldn’t have been served the water cheese in the first place.
If that had been put on nachos, I would have wanted more than just a full refund.

Restaurant was a bit of a mess, soda machine’s CO2 malfunctions over and over, ice machine is weirdly delayed, the place feels poorly maintained. The food reflects this. Shredded chicken salad was just a single chicken breast not shredded. Someone just plopped a single hunk of chicken in to a shredded chicken salad and called it good.
I was pretty sick after eating here and that should not be surprising after seeing how they handle food and do quality control while the restaurant is in the state it is.

We placed an order from the app and were given the option to repeat a recent order. I selected that since we wanted what we’d had in the past. The salads were missing half the ingredients. I reached out on the app to report the problem. Apparently they had an app & website update that forces you to choose all ingredients now. I was told the order was correct given the new method for ordering. Why offer to repeat a previous order if that can’t be done correctly? You would think an employee might think that is a weird order and ask questions when we picked up. I didn’t even get the ingredients that the receipt shows I asked for extra of. Cafe Rio is usually great if there has been an issue but really missed the mark this time.

It has been a while since going inside a Cafe Rio, usually I do take out. It was a nice surprise to see a few new side items on the menu. I was excited to try the new Avocado Corn Salsa on my tacos! However it should be called “black bean and corn maybe Avocado salsa”. As I only found 1 pieces of avocado on my 2 tacos. Sad. I did try the new Elotes with chips and it was served cold, but quickly heated once asked… And it’s delicious!! For Some reason the service was a little chaotic tonight.. even though it wasn’t busy. I still like Cafe Rio.. just don’t bother the “avocado” corn salsa!
